Question and topic suggestion

Hi there!
First, my question.... why do my images post so HUGE! I recently posted two photos where one was approx. 6K and the other 9K and both posted, again, HUGE!
Second, a topic suggestion. Just a simple, indulgent, fun-like area/arena where we can post our chows birthdays, adoption anniversaries... like a virtual birthday party site or a calendar. Well, it's a thought?!
