This is Ruger (attached). He came home with us from the pound just
over a month ago. We brought him home to be not only our friend but
a friend to our other dog Hooligan. Well, they hate each other and
fight badly. We have to keep them seperated at all times, one in
the front of the house and one in the back. They hate it because
they so love to be with their people. It is not a good situation.
We have read many articles and have tried the suggestions. But from
what I understand "now" male chows just do not get along with other
maile dogs ever.
Ruger is a sweatheart with people, but he loves women the best. He
loves to cuddle and thinks he is a lap dog. He weighs about 50
pounds, is about 2 years old, He has been fixed, chipped and has his
shots. He walks extremely well on a leash. I can't stand the
thought of taking him back to the opound, but I can't take the risk
that one of them will really be hurt badly. The fights get worse
not better.
PLEASE HELP US!

I have two male Chows at home right now (one is our chow and the other is a foster) and they get along really well. Chows are just like everyone else though some just don't like each other, I guess.
Here are two more Chow rescues in California that may be able to help. Adopt-a-Chow-LA (southern California) and ChowChowRescue.org (Northern California). They may at least be able to let them post the Chow on their site to get him seen more.
Can you also post a picture on this site and what part of California they are located in?
