Eye Surgery

Post by Terrina Harris »

Our poor baby Ai Shu had Surgery today. He had both of his eyes done for Entropion. The first time I called to check on him they said he still was sleepy because his was the last surgery of the morning. Then when I called back later to see if he was ready to come home and the girl said that oh yes he was. I guess as soon as he was awake he started barking and pretty much hadn't stopped. He was letting them know he didn't want to be it that cage. When we got there they sure were happy to see us he was still barking. I guess he figured that when he goes to the groomers they don't leave him in the cages there (they love him at the groomers and they spoil him) When they brought him out his eyes look so horrible. Larry has posted a picture in the photo section.
Our 10 month old boy now weighs 58.7 pounds.

Poor sweetheart. He even looks like his ears are more down in the photo. Buck up, (not so) little Ai Shu, the worst is over!

He's just a baby and to have to go through that. Yikes. At least he's home feeling the love. Hang in there, we're thinking of you.

Our Lucy had the same surgey one year ago, and there is always a chance they won't wake up after being put under. I can't stand it, I'm always nervous. Hope he heals soon. Here's Lucy before and after.

Ai Shu's eyes are starting to look better, but they still look like they hurt him. The first two days after his surgery I wanted to cry every time I looked at his eyes. He is really hating the collar he has to wear but I don't want him to pop any of his stitches. He goes back next Thursday for a check up.

kiddos.. I sure hope Ai Shu's eyes turn out as well as it looks like Lucy's has. Did hers work after the first operation.

I wish my sweet Angels eyes looked that much better.
I am going to have to schedule here THIRD surgery. I feel so bad for my poor baby.
Her eyes were looking so good for awhile there and now the right one is getting all gunky and runny just like before. I have been giving her the ointment that they had given to me prior to her surgery before. But as you said about going under.. that is the scariest part.
Poor thing is trying to rub her eyes on everything.

Terrina, yes the first surgery was it. She didn't care for the e-collar either. She had so many fine stitches(150) she had to be put under again to have them removed. The surgeon who did this is awesome, our vet and their staff are awesome. Hope he recovers with no problems.

Our first chow, Chia, had the eye surgery at about 3 or 4 years of age and came through it beautifully. She had no problems at all. Well, except when I complained that she got her eyes lifted before I did...
