Coco is home!
We took Coco home yesterday!
We are so happy she lives with us now!
The poor thing vomited in my hand in the car on the drive home, but other than that, it's been great!
She seems to like us as she is wagging her tail every time she sees us or when we talk to her.
I also had purple kisses on my hands several time today...
The night has been ok. She slept on the kitchen floor from midnight until 6.
She has absolutely no interest in her dog bed though.
I woke up twice last night and coudn't help to check on her but she was sleeping both times.
She had no accident during the night. What a good girl she has been!
I am going to get her to my vet this morning for a little check up.
We are SO happy!
I have more pictures to show you but for a reason I can't upload them on photobucket right now...
Will show you later!

Oh Elodie, she's just adoreable.
Don't worry about her having no interest in her bed. Most chows don't. Despite the fact Rowlee never would sleep on a bed, we spent a fortune on a very flash bed for Wilbur and guess what? - he want sleep in it! Just pulls the cushion out of it and chews it!!
Enjoy your beautiful baby.

Thanks so much Sweetpea, you're a star!
Congratulations! She is a beauty. The events surrounding bringing them home and their puppyhood are so special, you'll always remember them. And you're in for a lifetime of happiness since she will love you forever.
Our new puppy won't sleep on his bed much either, he just prefers the hardwood floor. But in the early morning when it is a little bit colder, he will curl up on his bed.
Be sure you take a lot of pictures because you won't believe how fast she will grow. You won't notice it as much since you are with her every day, but she will just sprout in every direction when you're not looking. Ours has doubled in size in the month and a half he's been with us.

Thank you for your nice comments!:D
Coco has been to the vet.
He said my puppy is a healthy good looking chow with very good temperament.
He said also that her eyes are small and if they have no entropion at
all at the moment, it's something we'll have to be careful about
depending how she grows...
I hope it won't be a problem.
I just wanted to add that I am amazed at how she behave.
She's so calm, so sweet.
Always happy when we pet her.
She's not afraid of any noises or the cars in the streets (she never saw
one before today).
She doesn't mind having a harness on and a leash.
I must say she goes wherever she wants when on leash, she has zero
training, but at least it doesn't seem to disturb her at all (she never had
one on before).
I love my puppy very much!:D

She is beautiful.
Can I suggest that you take her to all sorts of places where she will come across people in order to socialise her and get her used to being petted.
The more you socialise her, the more she will become used to people.
As she grows, she will probably become a beautiful and aloof chow lady but you won't want her to be nasty.
She is just beautiful.

No, no, I don't want a nasty chow.
You don't think she look nasty, do you?
It's for her socialisation I wanted her to be on leash right away, so we can
take her everywhere and she can discover the world!
She will only be fully immuned in 3 weeks so I just have to be careful with
other dogs...
She's at my feet right now.
I can already tell you she snores!!

No, absolutely no - I don't think she looks nasty at all - on the contrary, I think she looks lovely. The point I was making was that if you take her out and encourage people to stop and talk to her and have children pet her and so on, she will get used to being handled and will be polite and friendly to other people.
Chows, as you know, have a reputation for being aloof and chows who have been out to see other people grow up much more friendly.
When our Milly was a baby, we used to take her into town several times a week and also we would take her for a little walk when the children were coming out of school.
She was so adorable, just like your Coco, that the children could not resist stopping and petting her - the result is that Milly and Mabel love to be spoken to when they are out and are polite and nice when people call.
I wasn't suggesting for one moment that Coco looks nasty or will turn out to be nasty. I think she looks beautiful.

Judy your Milly at 6 weeks was already beautiful!
I am not sure about the children coming out of school thing because I'm
not crazy about kids myself, but I see your point!!
Yes Jacqui I've waited a long time for Coco, and now, I feel less stupid
posting on CC.org with finally a chow at home!!
Thank you all!

Oh what a beautiful baby. Give her a hug from me.
Teddy loves his beds but it took him a few days to use one for the first time.
Cinder has no use for dog beds but she loves a rug on the floor or even better, the bath mat which appears in every room of my house from time to time, usually with a black chow lady sleeping on it. (I've never caught her carrying it but I put it in the bathroom and then she is sleeping on it in the living room.)

I would agree with Judy about taking her around to meet lots of people. Be sure to introduce her to a wide variety of folks of different races, ages and backgrounds. If you can, try to get people in uniforms to pet her too.

Absolutely, it's something we really want to do asap.
But as she'll only be full immune with hers vaccines Dec 13th, there is a
health issue we need to take into consideration right now. We still need to
be careful where we're going...

Yes, of course and you won't want her to get in contact with other dogs until then.
If she seems a little nervous with people fussing over her at first, pick her up in your arms so she is speaking to people on her own level rather then them towering over her.
You say that you are not to keen on children - she will probably like children but ask them to hold their hands out to let her sniff first and also, remember that because of the way her eyes are placed and her wrinkles, she will not be able to see sidewards like other dogs and if somebody approaches her from behind, she may be startled so ensure people approach her from the front then she won't get jumpy.
You have such fun ahead of you!
