Where do your Chowdren sleep?
Maggie has always slept beside the bed with her head under the bed. When she was a pup, she slept under the bed, but now, of course, she's too big to get under there. She still puts her whole head under there to sleep though. It's a pretty funny sight!

Ai Shu sleeps in his crate at night. He chews everything if not For naps he sleeps under a bench next to an air conditioning vent.
Cinnamon will only sleep in her crate. In fact she will not lay down any other place. We never close her door, she is free to wander the house at night. Leave an arm hanging over the bed at night and you are sure to get a purple kiss

Dakota always slept in the bedroom beside the bed. Neelaa will also fall asleep beside the bed but usually sometime during the night will crawl into her crate to sleep (which is getting too small for her!).
And also on weekends, Neelaa and I will take naps together and she will sleep with me on the bed. I know, I know, that's bad right, you're not supposed to let them on the bed, blah, blah, blah. (I like it though )

Troy sleeps at the foot of the bed or the side that I get up from in the morning. He would prefer on top of the bed though and makes many attempts to do so but is unable to. I'm sure Troy would like to be attached as one of my permanent appendages if possible.
Sheena is on guard always by the sliding door in the dining room or midway between the slider in the dining room and the front door of the living room. She makes periodic checks throughout the night and enters the bedroom once in a while. She makes sure all parameters are covered and safe for both myself and Troy. She barks and warns me whenever my next door neighbors arrive on the block (They're your average gang mentality type of neighbors.)
Roxana: Why is it bad to let 'em on the bed? Troy leans against me so much on the weekend that I know he's gone through withdrawals from missing me while I've been at work during the week (he's always been very needy for affection and attention). So, I'll take my newly acquired dog ramp, lean it on the bed and he sleeps at the foot while I'm resting in bed as well. I notice he calms down quite a bit and then on Sunday he doesn't feel the need to follow me all over the place or when I just walk 5 feet away. And he doesn't want to sleep on the bed on Sundays either. So, I think it's a good thing!

My Bedroom is kind of weird, (though I like it), it has two folding doors to either side of a central wall that is about 5 feet, one is at the head of my bed and the other door is at the foot, outside the door at the head of the bed is the TV and it's stand, Firesong sleeps beside there, that way she can see me, she can see out the window and she can get to the front door quickly if someone is walking around out there. Sometimes she comes into the bedroom and sleeps at the end of the bed.
Dreamdancer sleeps under the bed...he whines and whines until I go to bed so he can sleep under the bed. Luckily he didn't grow too big to fit under that...although it's pretty tight for him. Sometimes he lays with his head sticking out from under the bed, so I have to be careful when I get in or out, so I don't squish him.

Pekoe sleeps like yours at night, smashed against the bed with her head under the bed. I don't like her head under the bed so I put a pillow there to block her now she sleeps up against the bed with her head on the pillow but that's only untill she goes on guard duty at 2 am then she creeps around all night. During the day she never leaves the front screen door so she sleeps there most of the day.furballchowbaby wrote:Maggie has always slept beside the bed with her head under the bed. Roxana that's only in the dog training books, Chows are ok on the bed even though Pekoe wouldn't go on a piece of furniture if her life depended on it. I've tried to get her on the bed to watch TV not a chance, you would think she was being serverly abused. My training book says treat a Chow like a family member you have a family member, treat a Chow like a Dog you have a temperamental Chow with behavior problems.

Jake prefers to sleep outside on the back patio, especially during the summer months. When it turns cold at night, Jake will sleep on the wood floor of the dining room. Occasionally, he will visit me in the bedroom to watch TV or to give me a good licking on the side of my head. He stays long enough to get a good scratch and, reassured that I'm there, he jumps off the bed and on his way. Independent guy for sure.

Henry quite often goes to sleep with his head mashed up against the en-suite toilet He will then at some point move to right next to the bed nearest me. Last night he decided he wanted under the bed (like he did when he was a pupster) so scrabble scrabble wake everyone up with claws against the laminate till he's comfy. At 6am he always goes for a pee - only he was stuck under the bed I had to get out of bed and pull him out from under it, then hubby let him our while he popped the kettle on.
When we go our and leave Henry at home he lays under the front window squished in between the couch and a side table with his head resting on the bottom shelf of the table, he looks so sad

Milly and Mabel sleep in our bedroom.
They each have a soft bed with a couple of their favourite toys in.
In the summer Mabel stretches out either on Fred's side of our bed or on my side. Milly stretches out across the foot of our bed and then when we have put our books down and switched our lights off - she jumps up on our bed and sleeps by my feet.
In the winter they both tuck themselves in their own bed. Milly also gets up on our bed.

Jack used to rule the house at night and just wander around, but he started chasing the cats to much and waking us up so we moved his crate into the room and now he sleeps in the room with us. Yesterday my stupid cat jumped out the window so we had to leave it open so he could get back in so jack had to sleep out in the living room to be our guard dog. i missed him.

I think it's a good thing too!! But all the so-called "experts" and everything I've ever heard say you shouldn't allow a dog up on the bed because then they think that they're boss or something like that, I dunno I love snoozing with by little cuddle-bug,

Millie is like Jack Black! She has to be corralled into the bedroom or she'll keep us up all night running around & huffing at people 4 blocks away SHe will sleep in her crate or upside down on her bed. Milo sleeps next to me for the first half of the night with his head on my pillow then swap to DH's. Cutie boy that he is

I think that is piffle! Milly does not think she is the boss - she is just an arrogant little baggage, so like you Roxana, I like feeling her by my feet on the bed.
I can understand keeping a dog off the bed for hygienic reasons or health reasons but as M & M are wormed regularly and do not have fleas - that is ok by me.
Mabel never tries to get up on the bed - she is perfectly happy on the floor or in her bed.

Kearra has and still does sleep upside down on the tile by the door in our room......its metal and cooler there.....she hardly fits there anymore so she kinda wraps herself around the door frame (upside down). Kyra sleeps beside my side of the bed....it took some getting used to as sometimes I get up at night to go to the bathroom after trippin' over her and landin' on the floor at 4am, I check for her first
During the day they sleep in the kitchen on the tile but Kyra has to be in the same room as me so if she falls asleep and wakes up she comes and finds me and flops down and huffs.....like I wish you would stay in one place.
I tryed leaving our bedroom door open at night but Kyra has to bark if anything makes a noise so she sleeps better with the door closed and so do we

Tippsy used to sleep in the floor by the door to my room until we moved and now she sleeps in my bed with me. I think she only slept in the floor cause i only had a twin sized bed and now I have a queen size so theres more room. LOL! There has been a few times though that she decided to sleep out in the backyard which I didnt like because she makes me feel safe at night and I know nothing will hurt me. I know Im weird but its true.
Oh yea and she snoorze.HAHA! I love to just lay there and listen to her.

Sounds like Troy and Kyra may be related! I consistently need to watch where I walk, night or day, or in no time at all I'm down on the floor as well!vicster605 wrote:Kyra has to be in the same room as me so if she falls asleep and wakes up she comes and finds me and flops down and huffs.....like I wish you would stay in one place.

Tess sleeps on our kitchen air vent right now. Covers the entire thing, unless she thinks we are going to make her move, then she will share half with the family. Half the time we lock her out of the kitchen, just to allow it to cool off a bit. She also really likes our tile fire place hearth, bent around the doorway in our entry way/family room, and of course, the guard duty spot on the landing on our stairs were she can see out the front door. The only time she will sleep in the bedrooms is when something has scared her...like a phone beeping, or any other weird noise. We have to be really careful at night because our stairway is so dark...and she's black we are afraid we will step on her. 90% of the time, when she hears someone going down the steps, she gets up and moves to the other side, but every once in awhile, she forgets...it would be a long hard fall to the bottom of the steps.

During the day the girls take their naps on the vents,Cheyenne on the one that's closest to me,Cinnamon on the one that's closest to DH.Occasionally, when it's a bit cooler in the house (that would be anything under 75,lol) they'll nap on the rug,Cheyenne will go in her crate if I'm in this room.At night they sleep in their crate in the computerroom. The two poodles sleep in the bed with us,if we didn't have them the chows would be sleeping in the bed I suppose.
Most nights we send the girls to our room at bedtime. With these big windows Princess will sit watching out the windows and will bark at everything. So Princess sleeps under a table we have in the bedroom and Gracie sleeps either in bed with us (at my feet or curled up next to me) or she'll sleep on the floor by the bed.
During the day they have a few places they sleep. Number 1 spot is a chair in the livingroom. Gracie believes we got that chair just for her. Princess sleeps in it any chance she gets. We rarely get to sit in it.

Most nights Shelly sleeps on her blanket next to our bed. Sometimes she sleeps at the top of the stairs or on one of the 2 landings on the stairway. More rarely, on hot nights, she will sleep on the tile floor of the kitchen.
Although she almost never barks, she will sometimes give out little yelps when she is dreaming/nightmareing. She has done this since she was a pup. "It's okay, Shelly, it's okay..."
