Puppy Express- Drivers needed (Update)

Post by Terrina Harris »

I am cross posting this. This puppy is listed in Chows Needing a home.
Humphrey is a sweetie and needs a home. i'm located in louisville, ky and we are keeping him at johnsen veterinary services in mt washington, ky where we can't keep him long. the doctor wants to take him to the humane socitey and i think he would be put to sleep due to his breed. he is the sweetest dog, is GREAT with other animals (including cats), and loves children. if you could please spread the word about humphrey i would truly appreciate it.
6-7 months old

Time for a Puppy Express from the south. We need to get this little boy to his new foster home. Yep you heard it here TLC is going to find him a forever home. We need your help to get him here. We need transportation to the Michigan line from MT Washington, KY. I talked to one of the ladies at the vets office and she said she would be willing to transport him some of the way. She believes it will be a $100.00 adoption fee.

Now Terrina, thats not the South   I was going to say maybe I would take a ride.....but it would take me a LONG LONG TIME to get to either place
Maybe when you have to go from the South to the North, I can help.

You guys are too much! I can't believe how easily you can add yet another needy chow to your pack. My hat is off to you.

Don't feel bad Vicki, I am just above it all. I do plan on dropping by the Harris's home and doing a photo shoot of their babies.

Trying to keep this at the top. Don't we have some members in southwestern Ohio? Cincinatti or Dayton area? Amanda and I, as well as Sharon, are all in the eastern part of the state. Hopefully someone can help!

Terrina and Larry- you guys are awesome!

I just might be able to help depending on when you want to do it. I am in Columbus, which is in the center of Ohio. I have a very old car (94 Corolla with over 155,000 miles) that I have to rely on to drive me 36 miles each way to work every day for at least 2 more years, but I'm sure I could at least drive within an hour's radius and/or help with gas if someone else is driving.

Sounds like I really want to help huh -- I really do, and I'm thrilled you're going through Ohio. I'm not even going to start on the excuse of my schedule the next week, but hope this will work out. Debbie

Debbie,

Thank you so much, every minute someone like you takes in an offer of help brings him one step closer to us. For you to even think about helping with an older vehicle shows how much you care. If we can bring him here one block at a time then that is the way it was meant to be, little Humphrey can touch one more soul in his journey. BTW we have a 93 Chevy pick up that we just retired. 260,000 miles on the clock ;-)

Thank you,

Larry

Now that's impressive! (Your car plus your efforts).

I do go back to school next Wednesday and have a bunch of doctors' appointments (including ones for Gilbert, Sullivan & Charlie) and pre-school gatherings between now and then, but I'm sure I can carve out an hour or two between now and then.

Just let me know.

Are you going through Ohio and not Indiana?? I figured you would try to hit 65N from Louisvlle and head north through Indianapolis?

Hey Furballchowbaby -- that face looks just like Sullivan's (with Gilbert's body).

I hadn't thought about the Indiana route -- might depend on which part of Michigan you are going to? You know we people in Columbus pretend Michigan doesn't exist   so the world stops at Lake Erie.

Mapquest has the route going through IN. The whole trip one way is under 400 miles. It is a lot shorter of a trip then Dakota had here.

We are located in Holland on the west coast of Michigan. So Ohio or Indiana are both options for us.

Nope, years ago when I wired the house for networking I put in several plugs to the server and for workstations. We are at opposite ends of the house. Works well when we are working on our website. Once upon a time we were in the same room.

Let me know if you do an Ohio leg, though it does make more sense through Indiana. Good luck.

Hope everything works out for this...if he was on this side of Ohio, I would be able to help, especially because I may be in East Lansing in the next week or so.

Good luck on the transport...let me know if you need anything.

I have talked to Jenny from the vets office a couple times and we have been emailing each other. Since it looks like no one is able to help in Indiana that Jenny and Laura are willing to meet us in Indianapolis. It is 2 hours one way for them and over 4 hours one way for us. The last email I did get they said they did get an email yesterday from someone that might be interested in adopting him they would know more today but that they would love to meet us in Indianapolis this weekend.

Jenny just called me about Humphrey. They have 2 people interested in adopting Humphrey. One she has talked to. They are from Cleveland, the lady is a vet tec and her husband grew up with Chows. I told her that if they checked out then yes let them adopt him. If neither worked out please let us know. So he might end up in Ohio.

Is it just me, or does there seem to be alot of Chows in the southern states? I just find it odd given they are more upkeep to keep them through hot months. Of course, I used to wonder why we didn't have a hairier dog in the winter months, back when we had our boxer, and it was sub-zero. I guess the heart wants what the heart wants.

I'm still willing to do an Ohio leg. I was thinking if you do end up transporting him and don't have a good solution to get through Indiana, that Louisville is pretty close to Cincinnati -- like 1-2 hours tops? I'm not sure where in Michigan you are (and you can tell geography is not my best subject) but I could pick up in Cincinnati and take Humphrie up through Columbus and slightly north.

Keep me posted. Debbie
