Its been a few days & looking for a chowgirl needing a m
Thank you to everyone who has supported me and my little chowgirl as she crossed over the bridge. I do not know what I would have done without all of you. My husband went and picked up Mrs. Tu's ashes on Saturday along with her collar and a paw print they made of her. I could see her little middle toenail leaning slightly to the right as it always did and the pawprint had some of her hair on it as well. I could not stop running my fingers over the print over the weekend. I am looking around for something that I would have that I could smell her on and I can find nothing.. I have not been able to pick her bowl up yet so there it sits with her food and water in it from last week...
I have been looking at Chow Chow rescues for just the right little girl that calls out to me. I cannot imagine not having a little furkid in my life and I know Mrs. Tu would not want me to be alone and sad. I have inquired about a couple of chowgirls I have seen but got no responses yet. I think I would want a chowgirl over a year old that needs a loving home. I did see one on a local rescue by the name of Katie but when I emailed, the email address comes back undeliverable. Does anyone know of any chowgirls needing a mommy?

Help
Patti,
I am sooo sorry about Mrs. Tu and I know your house must be very quite. I'll be happy to help you look for a Chow Girl.....do you have any special color in mind?? So tell me what does your new baby look like, what kind of girl are you lookin for???
I know that no Chow will ever take Mrs Tu's place and I aggree with you she wouldn't want you to be lonely....as you know their personalities are SOOO Different that the new one will be a new personality and it won't be the same but will be another addition to your family. If your ready to look I would love to help you look????
You can look all over as this site and the members are so good about helping to find transport....my Kyra was a rescue and was posted by a girl in Alaska and picked up in Va and was flown to me in La. so Pet finders anywhere...of course the closer the better but probably not a big issue. There are sooo many Chows out there that need a home you can probably find a new girl easy enough, and the perfect one for you and your family
Let me know ok
Vicki

Thanks Sweetpea!
My new dream chowgirl would be about 1 or 2 years old (would consider a little older), black and needing a home. I would want a black baby again with a purple tongue to give me sweet purple kisses. Anyone that could help me become a chow mommy again, I would so appreciate it.

Here are some... This first one is male. I know you prefer females, as do I, but keep an open mind, because sometimes, you may have a little male soulmate waiting for you to see...

The next 2 Chows are with a rescue that actually uses this site to an extent. Before they went to this rescue, I so wanted both these chows, but I felt a special pull toward Caroline. I was not in a position to take them, they were found together.

That last one Parker was just a beauty.
Listen , if Mia keeps rolling in the dirt, I may have one silly, black, purple-tongued, muddy old chow dog for adoption!
Ok, Ok, I didn't mean that - I just wanted to scare Mia out of the mud.
But, seriously, Patti, I will keep my eyes open for you. And, I am getting some time off, so if Mia and I find one for ya, we can help get it to ya.

Patti, I completely understand wanting another one. When my family lost Zoe over 8 years ago, we actually were not going to have anymore dogs...it was too hard losing them. But, as the days went on, we realized how much more difficult it was to come home and not have a dog waiting at the backdoor, or sitting by us in the house...or following behind out in the yard. Then, a week and a half later, Tess found us (really hadn't planned on finding a new dogs quite so soon, but things don't always go as planned)...she definitely did not replace Zoe, no dog ever could, but Tess helped fill that void, and she need us as much as we needed her.
With that in mind, I know you are looking for black, but there are two girls, actually a mother and daughter in Portsmouth, Ohio that have been looking for a forever home for a long time. I have talked to the lady that has them, she took them in when the owners moved...the owners where planning on either leaving them behind, or dumping them at the shelter. The both get along great with other dogs, cats, and people (although they are chows, so it take a little warm-up time). When I talked to her, I asked about them going together or separate...she said while they get along with each other, they really are not attached to each other. Here the link to them on Petfinder... http://search.petfinder.com/petnote/dis ... id=7719817 (mom) and http://search.petfinder.com/petnote/dis ... id=7719833 (daughter). They are listed through a shelter in Kentucky, but it's just a courtesy listing...they are with a women near Portsmouth, Ohio.
Just thowing out some ideas...good luck with your search!

Patti, I haven't been in your shoes yet, but I know that day will someday be here. I'm sure I'd feel the same way you do. It's strange, but when I found out the black Chow I posted wasn't a boy--I immediately thought of you. I even emailed the lady that rescued her to tell her about you and Mrs Tu. I can also pass all the emails she and I have exchanged. Here's the original link: http://www.chowchow.org/forum/viewtopic ... 5534782d86
Once I get home I can send you the fostermom's email address. We're in San Antonio, but I'm sure we can arrange transport anywhere.

You can go to:
wwww.chowchows.petfinder.com
There are several black chows. This is the rescue that Auddymay mentioned had Parker and Caroline. I believe there will be a couple others (female) that may be ready for adoption in a month or so.
You can also go to:
http://www.chowwelfare.com
They are all the reputable chow rescues listed by state.
I know the grief you're feeling right now and I'm sorry. Take time to grieve your loss and when you're ready you will find each other.

Pattie,
we have so many chows and chow mixes up in my neck of the woods....Cleveland and the suburbs. Please take a look at petfinders for the Cleveland area..which is Cuyahoga county, Geauga county, Lake county, summit county.
Both JR and Cheyenne came from the Cuyahoga county pound.
JR...91/2 years ago and Cheyenne 20 months ago.
When I lost my red chow, MoMo to the bridge...after 2 weeks or so I couldn't stand it...so I went to the Cleveland APL with only one thought in mind...I wanted another "orange one"...the problem occured when this beautiful bundle of black fur decided that he wanted me...so after he was all fixed up...home came my precious JR.
When Alan checked pet finders all the time...he was originally looking for another back sister for JR...oh well...this poor abused, raggy looking almost 4 year old "orange" lady caught his eye...he went to see her and home came my beautiful butterball, Cheyenne.
Even though I work everyday I can do what I can to help in this area and I know that Alan would also be willing to help..he only lives 4 streets away now and we talk everyday!
Lady Tsu will be so happy that you are honoring her soul like this!

Hey Patti:
Through that chow welfare site, I found that Katie too here in Columbus. I've been following the Cincinnati Chow rescue too, that some people have mentioned here. Finally, Lynn Aronson is mentioned in a link through the chow welfare site. She's the woman we got Gilbert from. This is a really great group (Stop the Suffering). I don't think the Franklin County Dog Shelter has any young black females right now, but that changes constantly. Good luck. I could be up for a road trip if you want!

Patti,
I know Mrstu would want you to be happy and to give another chowgirl a home.
I think I have just the girl for you!
She is posted in chows needing a home, but
I will link it here.
If all works out, I can help transport her from Birmingham to Ohio.
She is listed here in the Chows Needing a Home section, under the thread:

Hi Patti:
Here's the reply I got from Lynne at Stop the Suffering:
we have a young female chow - probably a mix, named Maggie who is absolutely adorable. She has separation anxiety but is getting treated in her foster home. Has been an only dog so far........
Please please have her write to me.......you can apply on our website too.
Our website is:
http://www.stopthesuffering.org
I have not listed her on the chow site but maybe I should.
I am getting a black male chow named Colby tomorrow who is, like Maggie, on our website. When you click on the above link, then click on "dogs for adoption" to get to our petfinder site.
Glad to hear from you! Lynne
Maggie is very cute -- you can go to the site to see her.
Keep us posted!

Thanks to all who are helping me find my new best friend. I have been busy with work the last couple of days so I have not been able to put a lot of time into looking at very little baby that was sent to me but I will. I will know the right baby when I see her. Please continue to send me links -- I will let you all know when I find my new love. I may need help with transport.
Thanks again, I feel so blessed to know all of you.
