3 Month Chow Schedule

Post by awelle »

Hi everyone,

We have a 3 month old Chow puppy. His schedule is as follows. He is up and out of the crate at 4:30am - 5:00am. He is taken immediately outside where he does his business without a problem. He then eats breakfast and is confined with a baby gate at different areas of the house while we get ourselves and the kids ready (family room with showers, kitchen for breakfast). He is then placed in the crate at 8:30am. At 11:30am he is out of the crate and taken outside again. He does real well. At 12:00pm he is kept in the kitchen and fed water only while we eat. He is then taken back outside and placed in the crate at 12:30pm. At 3:00pm he is taken out of the crate and outside to play with the kids. He is then brought into the house and sectioned off again. He eats dinner around 6:00pm and is taken back outside at various times. He is then placed in the crate about 10:00pm.

Currently we are having a few penny problems. He is fine unless we let him roam the house. Is this an age thing - will he finally get the picture completely?

He is also beginning to understand that he cannot chew on everything. Again, if we are not watching him, he will grab whatever he finds. How to we get past this?

Are we doing ok? When will we be able to trust him enough to leave him in the house uncrated? Is there a time when we should leave him outside (about 1/2 acre). We are worried about him being stolen or something right now.

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Awelle-Unforturnately, I can't help with the house training. Willow was already two when we got her.

But, for the chewing, if it's furniture try spraying a little bitter apple. It worked for Willow.
