....my Nipper just swallowed a snail in the garden! ..and now he's acting all 'strange'.
He used to bound up the garden, the whole length in just a few strides, now it takes about 2 days!
Also when he walks he tends to leave behind him a kinda 'trail'...slimey stuff, yuk
On top of all this he has started to 'grow' something from the top of his head, just behind the ears, a little like stalks, and when he twitches his ears they 'boing' about!
His fur has gone from a lovely black fluffy soft hair to some kinda crispy hard shell like subtance!
Now believe it or not, I can put up with all the above but theres one thing that I find distressing......it took ages for him to learn his name, Nipper, but now He only responds to the name of 'Brian'!
Help!!

Grrr Woof woof!
Your story is cute, yet sad...I don't think it has anything to do with the snail?
Has Nipper seen a vet lately?
It sounds like your little Nipper/Brian needs to go to the vet. It could be a number of things, but one thing is for sure, these are symptoms that need attention.
I am wondering if he has worms, thus leaving a slime trail.
The hair loss could be worms, could be skin mites, or something auto-immune, like thyroid problems.
The bumps, sometimes occur and they are benign, and sometimes are malignant.
In any case, he is in serious need of a veterinary care.
I hope you will make an appointment today.
I hope this helps.

Just make sure she stays away from salt and beer, a dangerous combination for snails...and chows. I can't imagine a chow/snail mix would do any better with them.
Would that be considered a designer mix...a chail or a schnow?
