Phone rings...Colonel whines?

Post by bama »

It never fails, whenever the land line phone rings, Colonel gets excited and begins to whine.
I don't know why? :?:
All you super-behaviorist, got any ideas??

Do you answer it? All dogs usually have something that worries them, that may be his. It may bother him, if it's real loud turn it down, or get one that sounds different.

I can attest to this!

I called Sherill a few weeks ago to see how the Colonel was doing....Alan and I decided that we are his Godparents since Alan definately got a little attached to his adorable fluffy front seat passenger.
Anyway,,,when the phone was answered...I heard this unbelievable Chowy whining sound in the background...too funny! I sure hope that the phone ring is not something that the Colonel is afraid of or a sound that hurts his ears...I hope that it is just one of those weird quirks that makes our Chows so differnt and so amusing!

Auntie Sharon

P.S I now have 3 little "Chowy feetsies" by our name

Special does this too, but only at certain times. Say hubby has been at work all day and he's calling me to tell me that he's almsot home. Special whines, jumps up and down, etc. He knows the phone ringing=daddy's coming home= (most impartantly) big family walk! :D So I wonder if the Colonel could have some type of past association with it, whether a good or bad one?

Oops, almost forgot, cograts Sharon on your three "pawzez" :D

Oh I know, he's just gettin' excited that it may be his Auntie Sharon or Uncle Alan calling, cuz he loves them so much!!!! :x
We always jump up and run to the phone, is he looking at you and the phone? Maybe he knows your going to stop what you are doing and go to the phone...........
Have you ever noticed the human kids start to whine when we are on the phone too????

Might be the ringer hurts his ears???If he doesn't whine when the other phone rings???

Maybe, Colonel left some unpaid bills behind and the bill collectors weren't fooled by his name change.......
They have found him!!!!!

Oh well, like most parents, I suppose we'll have to bail our furkid out of debt!

Actually, I think he is really wanting to hear from Uncle Alan and Auntie Sharon!

Auntie Sharon, you do have 3 paws!!! Congrats!!
I think that is amazing since you only need one more to have a complete set!
I have to wonder what the extra fifth paw is for?

Maybe the sound of the ring hurts his ears? Aren't they super-sensitive to sounds?

What do the chow paws by our names mean? I've never noticed them before....

Alan and Sharon: Thanks! If I could protect The Colonel from a gun-toting security guard, I was sure I could defend my position as The Colonel's Godmother. I was ready to go to the mat on this one! Olivia, too! Olive said: arrrrrooooooo! That's Basset for "whatever my mommy said goes double for me" (I know you guys don't speak Basset, but fortunately I can interpret.)

Most likely The Colonel thinks the phone is for him, and doesn't understand why you, as his secretary, don't put him on. It might be one of his many Chowette admirers calling to check on his eyes.
