yogi left the house as a chow

and came back something else

poor baby!
we always have our groomer(used to show chows, and very few people will groom a chow)cut her down once a year but not usually in teh winter. She gets to sleep in the house now since she doesnt have her natural sweater on right now.

Oh! Bless her!
So that is what they look like without their coats. You can see by her face she is a chow though. Compare her face on both photos!.
Does her coat grow back nicely - with the undercoat and the top coat? Does the top coat still have its coarse feel?
That is very interesting. Bless her, you should have a jumper knitted for her - she could choose her colour!!

yeah her coat comes back nicely. She's an outdoor dog but we pretty much have her inside most the time. Since she does spend so much time outside she gets stuff(stickers, foxtails) in her coat that we cant get out very nicely when we brush her.
Our grooming lady says that she believe's this winter's going to be really cold as all the dogs and horses shes cut have had the thickest coats that she could remember. She said our chow usually dries really quick under the blower but not thursday. She said she could barely shave her down her coat because it was so thick(it only gets in the mid 30s at night in the winter here).
All my grandmother said was, "She has a red dog collar?" and grandpa seriously thought we got new dog.
ps... were gone most of the day at work so she does spend most of her time outdoors and comes in at night(but not overnight as she "usually" gets too hot. Heck when it rains she doesnt even go in her dog house, she stands in the rain, we think that she doesnt feel the water and mayb ethe water just runs off her coat(btw she loves her kiddie pool though).
