Trouble bonding

Post by ski »

We rescued a four year old male chow several months ago. He had a variety of health problems which we have
Addressed. He is beautiful and is well behaved but doesn't seem to be bonding with us. Having had chows I understand their aloofness. It is a quality I admire. But this dog seems especially detached. We have another rescue. They get along just fine. We take walks together, reward him with treats, we seem to be doing all the right things. We are home with him all day. Are we expecting too much!

Hey. I do not think you are expecting too much, i just think its too soon. Rescues go through a lot and getting accustomed to a new environment may take a while. Do not worry too much. The fact that he is getting along with your other dog is a good sign, so just continue being awesome and you'll see.. :D
