Dapple or Multi-colored Chow

Post by cuz117 »

I have now almost a 3 year-old chow. He is AKC DNA'd. He is a very unusual color He is a blue first, with red and cream highlights and a white hind end and tail. There are many two color chows, but for many a multi-colored is inconceivable. He certainly has the colors and markings of a Tiberian Mastiff.

Your dog is certainly an unusual color. I would love to see a copy of his pedigree. It would be interesting to see what lines were bred to come up with this color. Do you know if this is the only pup born this color?

He was the only one out of six...I believe it the white(not cream) and black that produced him. two of his pups..

I have never heard of any of the dogs in this pedigree. First time I have heard of cream and black breedings coming up with a color like this. Very interesting. Thanks for letting me see the pedigree.

He is a very unique looking Chow. I would consider him multi-colored though not dapple.
It's very interesting to see when a Chow with such unique features comes along. He certainly looks pure Chow as far as all of his features.
Some people would say harsh things because he doesn't fit the breed standard. I think he is very unique, obviously he is a much loved member of your family.
Uniqueness like this is something that occurs in nature. Its not a defect in anyway. Just because he doesnt fit the standard of the Chow Chow doesnt make him any less Chow.
Enjoy his unique beauty, he's a special boy.

It looks like your baby may have reached back a few generations. It's just a smaller version of it's relative.
