Happy Holidays

Post by Sharons Chows »

I just wanted to say hi to everyone since I am not here much.

JR has had a rough few months and wasn't feeling well at all. He was on 2 weeks of antibiotics and steroids which I wasn't crazy about. It seems that his liver counts are high and he probably had some kind of infection, however, at 14.5 years old I am not going to put him through biopsies etc. He deserves to live out his days in dignity.
I did start him on a holistic regimen of 175mg of Milk Thistle daily....it is supposed to help in liver cell rejuvination. He has definitely perked up and still continues to take a daily walk with his sweet sister, Cheyenne and I even in lots of snow.. and his appetite is great.
He plods up the stairs a lot more slowly now and I have been giving him accupressure massages which he really likes and he has just begun tho jump up on the bed each morning to let me know he needs his potty break.
What a grand old warrior he is.
Cheyenne continues to be Cheyenne...a wonderful beautiful Chow girl.

Wishing you all A very Happy New Year!

Hi Sharon, I am sorry I haven't been on for a long time either. Sorry your post wasn't answered. How is jr doing now. How was your Hannukah? It is good to hear Cheyenne is still herself. It is so hard when they get old.

Hi - I missed answering this post, too. Hugs to JR and Cheyenne...it's difficult to watch our furkid not feeling very good.

....and Happy New Year, too!

Happy New Year to you and your furkids. I just had to have a biopsy on Nikki and even with the biopsy there is no real diagnoses, and I agree with you let him live his life out at that grand ole age in dignity. Enjoy the special times you have with them cause memories will last forever..
Sounds like hes doing okay so far as the Warrior plods on. I'll keep the milk thistle remedie in my file if I ever need it..

Maybe I am a little crazy...and for those who know me....know I am a lot crazy. But I really do think that the Milk Thistle is helping JR....along with Glucosamine and MSN that I have been giving him for quite awhile now. I also give both JR and Cheyenne fish oil.
I don't spend much on their holistic therapy since I don't get the "doggie" site ones. I give them plain old decent maker supplements that I trust for myself. And after being a 2.5 year cancer survivor...I am also doing well with all my supplements added to my diet.

Oh, I don't think you're crazy .. I was serious I will keep it in a file cause Iam tired of all the drugs some drs. can push on you too.. Thank you for the info. Iam just starting to get into supplements myself even for some of my own ailments and there is something to it. I too give and take myself the different fishoils. and glucosamine for my knees.
Glad to hear you are doing good too..
