Hot Spot and Entropian
Well woke up this morning and had the normal play, rub, pat with Winston. Went to do his daily eye gel for entropian and found a huge fur/puss lump on the back of his neck, where the leash would typically sit.
Tried to get through the fur and work out if it was a wound or hot spot. Gave up and down to the vet. After a shave (sob) we have a nice 1" hotspot, pretty sure came from the weekend 8km walk http://forum.chowchow.org/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=15696
Then had a chat about Entropian surgery as I was told to wait till 12 months (now 13 months) got a estamite cost of $550 so he is booked in on the 2nd June Poor little boy.
He's now back at home running around with Duff playing security

Re: Hot Spot and Entropian
I hope the hot spots are better...
On the entropian...if you can get the surgery done for $550. I would say run, not walk to the surgeon and get it done!
My chow boy had the surgery 3 times and each time it cost over $1000. His surgery was done by a specialist, however I really
think my regular vet could have done just as well.
There are a couple of different methods, you will want to educate yourself on both of them. One is a simple tacking down of the lower
lids. The other envolves slicing the lid, then sewing in up tight. You are smart to wait until your doggie is fully grown to have the surgery done,
keeping eye gel in the eyes to prevent scratching the eyes.
Good luck
