Matilda's Litter Sister
Yesterday we had a new arrival in our home. On Saturday we heard from Matilda's breeder that she wanted to find a home for the puppy she kept from the litter. There were three little girls born. We brought Matilda home, another went to one of the breeder's friends and the breeder decided to keep the smallest one herself. However, on she felt that the little girl was not getting the attention she deserves so Fred and I talked it over and we decided to ask if we could buy her.
Joan brought her over to us yesterday lunch-time. She has settled in nicely - a little bit wary but last night she settled down nicely with Mabel and Matilda. This morning I was awake before they were and she wagged her tail like fury when she saw me.
We are absolutely thrilled to bits with her and Matilda loves playing with her. Mabel is a lovely old girl and if fine for walking round the garden and contemplating life in general - but not for the rough and tumble that puppies like.
She was called Ruby but we have decided to call her Maisie. She will be the last puppy we get as both Fred and I are getting older and we feel we won't have the time left to have another puppy so we count ourselves so fortunate that we have this opportunity. To have two sisters again like we had Milly and Mabel is just so exciting. We just cannot believe our luck.
This is a picture of the three chowlings when they were about 6 weeks old.
This is a picture of just Matilda and Maisie
and this is a picture of Maisie her breeder sent to me last Saturday.
Finally, a picture of the two of them with Fred taken yesterday afternoon. They are so alike. At first I wondered how I was going to tell them apart then I noticed that Matilda has a little black tip to her tail and Maisie does not. Also, Matilda's face is just a tiny bit darker.
Maisie was the smallest in the litter but she has caught up and is now the same size as Matilda. It is lovely seeing them running round the garden and playing and big old, beautiful Mabel just sits and watches them.

Oh, Judy and Fred that is so great, I think you all make a great family.. And so cute the description of the job to foresee the garden area to Mother Mabel, she will help keep those 2 little ones in line. But I'd surrender the chair and just get another...LOL

I just got the oddest feeling of deja vu! Pip was like Mabel when we got Lily. She would often look at me as if to say, "What did I do to deserve THIS in my golden years?" You have your hands full, m'dear!

Congratulations Judy!
Definitely some chowling envy here. They are adorable and should be great playmates for each other. Give all three girls a hug from me please.

Judy, I am so excited for you and Fred!! I think three makes a good pack!
Once upon a time, I had 3 chowkids at once and it was a wonderful time in my life.
Currently, I have 3 furkids, but Colonel is my only chowkid. Three is great!!!
