Tomorrow/Cara no Cancer

Post by Cara&Haley »

The girls are going in tomorrow for spay and teeth cleaning. Yep. Finally getting it done after putting it off for 4 years.
They ran a blood test on Cara just to be safe. I'm terrified that she/they won't wake up but I'm sure I'm just being a paranoid mommy.

We took them hiking today, just to do something fun before their big day. Haley ran after a squirrel and got 1/2 up a tree. I can't wait till the recover so we can climb more trees...

Aww its OK to worry but they are very loved and they will be fine spaying offers them protection from infections and cancers, and that's a great gift.

I know how you feel, not sleeping much myself, as Yumi is in for a cruitiate operation on Friday.

Hi
Just wanted to let you know my boy is going in on Thursday for desexing. I know how you're feeling. They will be fine and chasing squirrells in no time, I'm sure.

Just got the girls home. Cara's doing great. Haley's not... she's very upset about the collar and whinning, afraid to walk anywhere. I'm petting her trying to keep her calm. Vet said Haley had intestinal adhesion, part of her intestine was attached to one of her ovaries. Weird. Said to watch out for constipation.
Cara had a nipple removed and it's going in for biopsy. Fingers crossed that it's nothing...
It's going to be a looooong week.

Good luck with your procedure, Hugo!

They will be better for it, it is the chowrents that are put through the wringer with worries. Thinking of you both. I hope the biopsy will be fine. Likely a 'better safe than sorry' scenerio.

Each day they will be feeling better and at least it is done. Very gentle hugs to both and let us know how the biopsy goes. [:D]

Sleepless night for everyone. Cara keeps wandering around the house, bumping into things. She hasn't stopped since we came back last night.
I relented and took off Haley's Cone a few minutes ago. I wrapped a t shirt around her bottom and she's finally laying down. She's conked out next to me right now. I tried the t-shirt on Cara but didn't work. She's still wandering and bumping into things. I would like her to get some sleep but I know she'll try to gnaw at her stitches. :(

Thanks, everyone for your kind words.

Hi
I heard of an apple sour tasting spray, sorry not sure of it's proper name. Maybe if it doesn't sting too bad, you could get something fowl tasting to stop them nibbling on their stitches. Poor you, must be tired too as well as the girls. It will soon be over and all recovered.
Hugs to you all

I wouldn't suggest putting that kid of thing on the insicion(sp?) sight. I could cause it to get infected.

I hope you all can get some sleep tonight. [:D]

Awww poor babies. I hope they feel a bit better soon. Bitter apple might work but Bramble will ignore the taste of it if she has really itchy feet when they put salt down for the ice. It will be a long week but once it is over you wont have to go through this again thank goodness.

Yeah, it's a tough thing to go through, hopefully by a week they should be feeling better and running around like puppies again.

Hopefully they will be feeling better soon, poor little girls. In the long run it will be the best thing but it hurts when you watch them troubled.
Poor littls souls - they don't know why. [:D] [:D]

When Bear had to wear an E-collar, he kept bumping into things, too. He hated it! There are other options like an inflatable one that may not be as bothersome. With only a few more days to go though, you may just want to tough it out. I'm so glad the cyst was not cancerous!!

Probably not needed now, but I've found the dogs do much better with the soft e-collars. Many (not all) vets have them, and I believe Petco has a similar one (a little more stiff than the one I have, but still softer than plastic). They have a lot more give to them, so there's less of the disturbing (to the dogs) bumping into things.
