Mishka passed Canine Good Citizen Test

Post by Igor »

In this days of sad news when belowed chows leave us I want to share something positive.
Today Mishka passed CGC test.
Why I decided to try? While shoping recently for home insurance I was turned away by two companies because we have a chow chow dog.
Eventually I found a better deal and put those companies in my doghouse.
But to know that somebody can consider our sweet boy as a vicious dog, that is just unfair. So why not try the test? Mishka behaived quite reasonably recently.
I made an appointment for today. Fortunately test was late in the evening, so Mishka had time to spent all his naughtiness before
He actually was very good. Two tests I was most afraid off reaction to another dog and separation he passed quite easily. It looks like he spent 3 minutes without us with a lot of fun
The only problem was with sitting politely for petting. It happened that one of evaluators was his instructor in conformation classes 1.5 years ago. Mishka loved her then and he remembers good people very well, so he wanted to show much more affection than allowed.
Treats were not allowed during the test but he got them a lot after.

Congratulations Mishka, what a good boy to pass the test 8) !
There is no such test where I live, I wonder if Coco would pass...
Is it just a test for the proud of the owner of a good canine citizen or is it usefull for something else too?

Well done Mishka. \:D/ You are a good boy. I am not sure Bramble would pass the being petted by strangers test - she is very selective.

Hi Mishka,

My mom made me take that darn test too. The being petted by strangers part was hard for me too (but in my case because the evaluator really was a stranger and I was not sure I wanted her to pet me). But I gave in cause mom said she would just have to practice by letting all kinds of strangers pet me on the head until I passed. I have a framed certificate with both my name and Mom's name on it. Did you get one too? I made Mom hang it on the wall for me.

Mishka, you rule! Lily could never ever pass. Great job, and for your chowrents too, they put the work in to make you the fine example of Chowness that you are today.

Aw...Mishka, what a lovely chowy abassador you make now!!!

Congratulations!!

Mommy has wanted us to take the course too, but she's afraid that Chutters can't see anything and won't understand and I am not always a good listener when I am supposed to be.

We are proud of you!!

You have to ask yourself "How can you say no to this face....?" Answer: when they chew on your favorite purse...
