Goodbye!

Goodbye!
1- Hello
If I tell my chow: "Coco, say hello", she will go to the person, give her a good sniff and might even decide to give one purple kiss on the hand if the person smells good enough (maybe she will also let the person touch her precious cheeks or neck on this occasion too).
2- Goodbye
If I tell my chow: "Coco, say goodbye", she just stand there and will *not* move, like I'm reading her the yellow pages.
She has no reaction, even if it's my BF the one living (and she really loves him).
I wonder why, I mean she knows what "goodbye" means, she hears me say it every time someone is living.
Your chow probably knows "hello" but I was wondering do yours say goodbye too?

Re: Goodbye!
Not sure if Kearra & Kyra know what goodbye means but they know when they are leaving by their actions and ALWAYS escort them to the door, such good hostesses
Thanks Sweetpea!

Re: Goodbye!
Milly and Mabel both know what "Hello" means and if they hear us saying Hello, they come rushing in to see who has arrived. Then they clear off to do their own thing.
When people are then going, they will reappear to see them off the premises.
However, with our elder daughter Carolyn, if I say "Aunty Carolyn is going now Milly" she comes rushing in to see Carolyn even if Carolyn has not even got up from her seat. Milly loves her and has to make a fuss. She will go out and watch until her car is out of the avenue.
So, she certainly knows what "going now" means!
If I say it about somebody else, Milly will look at me as if to say "..........and!"

Re: Goodbye!
When someone is leave I tell Tippsy to "say bye-bye" and she lifts her paw and it looks like she's waving to them. It's sooooo cute. It's something she taught herself, I just put words to it.

Re: Goodbye!
That is so sweet Jess and I bet visitors love it.
We have a neighbour who has a little granddaughter who is not yet at school so my neighbour looks after her a couple of days a week for her son and daughter-in-law. Sometimes we meet them when we are out for a walk with M & M and the little girl loves them. She waves to them as they are approaching us and I stoop and pick Milly's paw to wave back. When we say goodbye little Isabelle waves again and we do the same thing with M & M and she giggles with delight.
Wouldn't she love it if they did it of their own accord like Tippsy? If only!

That's cute. She would love that.
Visitors do love it. It's always "awwww! How'd you teach her to do that?" I just say "thank you. She taught it to herself. "
Tippsy is big into "hellos" but she'll deffinately say "goodbye".

Millie & Alfhave no interest in saying goodbye, so don't bother with it at all! Lazy chows here

Thank you Elodie!
Re: Goodbye!
Neither do Keiko & Wilbur, although they do have to be locked outside when people are leaving to reduce the risk of an "escpae". As soon as people leave, they rush to the front door to check out their scent and make sure they've really gone.Layla wrote:That is very very cute Jess!
