Hi Carolyn, I'm glad you got your book. Mail service can be real frustrating at times. If you are interested, there's a second book, the World of the Chow Chow, that came out. According to the CCCI webpage is basically Vol. II of the Book of the Chow Chow, bringing Chow history current. Although cur...

From your Avatar it looks like Leo is a cream. If for some reason you decide to use tomato juice, you may get a pink chow. We had a white cat when I was a kid that messed with a skunk. We tried bathing him in tomato juice, and we had a pink cat for quite a while.

I've seen something similiar happen with a pup that grew up with a kitten. My parents had a Great Pyranese pup that was growing up with a kitten. The dog learned to stalk like a cat does before it captures a bird. The pup did this to some visitors as they were walking down a wooded trail from my fol...

Hi Lana,

There is a Chow Chow rescue in the Sierra Foothills which appears to be located somewhere near Grass Valley. They help to find homes for various Chows and Chow mixes in the area. Their web site is http://www.chowchowrescue.org You might try contacting them.

I don't know if this will help or not, but there are websites which can help you locate an apartment which will accept pets (including dogs). Try looking at the following websites which cover nationwide. Also try using google and look for something like "Wisconsin apartments accepting pets"...

I'm sure that all the reading I can do will never tell me everything there is to know about the Chow I may bring home. Bringing a new member into the family is really just that. They get to know you and you get to know them. However, at this point I'm not in a rush and am trying to take this one ste...

This is good to know. Thanks for all the responses. Thanks Jeff for the links and Scott for the book recommendations. Should I decide to be owned by a Chow, I'm sure I'll be back with various questions. :)

Good Chow books?

I'm new to this forum but have been reading it for the last few months. I've been considering getting a chow chow but have never owned one or been owned by one. I searched the internet and have read quite a bit about them. The next step I thought I should take is to get some books on the breed to fi...
