Re: Heavenly chows breeder?
I agree with all the above...save a life, adopt a homeless chow. Petfinder has many purebreds but you will have to do some searching and check out 'chows in need' on facebook. There are puppies to seniors needing homes. And if you dont mind waiting you can put in an application with Chow Chow of Cen...

Re: New here
Welcome, from what I can see I would agree with Cocoa about Samson. But you might want to use an online editor or picture painter to reduce the size of the pic so that we can see all of him.

Re: Bringing in a new puppy
I would also recommend a female. We had a 12 year old intact male (for similar reasons) when we brought Belle home to keep him company. At first he ran from her but she just kept following him around. Pretty soon they were inseperable. I agree with Saraloo, get a young female from a rescue that is g...

You might also ask your vet to accept donations and include his information for people to pay the vet directly (something I noticed on facebook). I guess there are people out there that have been scammed by others using the guise of a sick pet. I believe you are just trying to help your baby and wil...

Re: Getting 2 chow-chow puppies
Bloat is the 2nd most common killer next to cancer. In basic terms the stomache flips then the gasses build up. The stomach will expand or bloat to 2+ times larger than normal and because of the flip soon starts to die and causes other organs to die. If you do not catch it quickly there is no chance...

I guess I have always been lucky... all mine have been slow eaters. I have one of those gravity feeders that let them feed as often as they like and they tend to nibble throughout the day.

Re: Do Furr-alarms have snooze buttons?
My alarm depends on what time I go to bed since I always let them go out before bedtime. Usually its around 6am. But there is no snooze alarm with Chums around. He will jump up beside the bed and whap you with that huge paw. Sometimes I try to roll to the middle of the bed & ignore him...bad dec...

Re: She's staying
OMG, she is sooo cute! I can truley relate to keeping her. We had a similar situation with Jr. (he was born about 3 hours after everyone else). I gave him to my mom to make sure I could keep an eye on him then brought him back home when he was unhappy there. Dont worry, as she grows and her personal...

Haven't been on in a while but better late than never. CONGRATULATIONS! \:D/ Makes me remember our Lady and her little ones so many years ago. You are so lucky to have a good mom in Izzie & its obvious that she thinks you are a good helper or else she wouldnt let you watch the babies (moms are p...

Re: Our Skye passed away
I am so sorry you lost your baby...but your angel will live forever in your heart & memory.
I am not sure where you are located but have you given thought to adopting a rescue? There is less chance of those type of diseases in a pup 6 months old or older.

I am so sorry for your losses, its tough to lose one no matter how long they have been in your life. I always try to find some positive out of a negative and that everything happens for a reason (if our Belvedere hadnt passed so young we wouldnt have had Leo) so maybe you should think that someone s...

Re: So how did you know you wanted a Chow?
We were young & dumb...we lived in a nice subdivision and just let him run free during his potty breaks. So we will never know. We learned from that lesson & the dogs were walked on a leash until we fenced in the back yard. Everything happens for a reason...if Belvedere hadnt passed away we ...

Re: So how did you know you wanted a Chow?
I had no idea chow chows existed & back then there was no Internet so no researching either. I wanted a miniature poodle but my husband had no plans for a fru-fru dog. His brother-in-laws family had chows and convinced him that chows were big guard dog types. So my husband brought one home one d...

Re: Issues with new pup coisty
I have been really lucky all of mine were a breeze to potty train. But I wanted to suggest you mention the possibility of 'tacking' his eyelids now to the new vet. Our vet did this w/ Belle under gas (same stuff they use to deliver c-section). This keeps the lashes from damaging the eyes & somet...

Congrats to you! We also had boys then got Belle so we too had to come up with something besides 'boys'...we went w/ 'babies' ( fits both genders).
Re: HELP!
You may have stumbled onto your answer to the rough zoomies...take her for more or longer walks or maybe find a neighbor who also has a puppy she can play with to get rid of that energy :D I may be a little different but as long as they were playing I didnt mind them nibbling on me. However, like Vi...

Re: HELP!
The biting lessened but it seems that sometimes she remembers that she wants to bite me.:)) What i do is to put her inside her crate once she start biting me. These are actually the times that she's uncontrollable. Will she be able to learn not to bite with this kind of training? No she will not le...

Re: Latest pics of Buddy Bear
Buddy got to come home last night from the heartworm treatment. It definately took its toll on him as he just wanted to sleep. I had to cook him hamburger to add to his dry food in order to get him to eat anything. But today is a little better, he ate his regular soft/dry mix without the addition of...
