Re: Hello Group....New Member
Welcome to the group. What I am going to say now is not meant to insult, but to educate. Please take my words with good will. There is no color distinction of chocolate in Chows. There is black, blue, red, cinnamon, and cream. I thought my first cream was 'champagne' but with education, learned I wa...

Re: Spay yes or no?
If you research, look for a vet that uses isoflorine and also look up pyometra-something that could happen if you don't spay your baby.

Re: My Chows HATE water and HATE grooming
I have a rescue that never saw a grooming implement until after he was a year and a half. In fact, he fears being touched at all. Yet, at least every other day, I put a leash on him and do a little brushing. He hates me touching his backside, and I need Haley to help with holding him in the front wh...

Please except my belated congratulations. Lucky find on those glasses, I'd call that serendipity because of the timing. May you and Fred have many, many more years together!

Likely a Chow mix, but beautiful none the less. Just love him and do well by him and you will reap the rewards of his devotion.

Terrina, I am sorry to hear about your Ozzy. You are in a unique and terrible spot when it comes to grieving losses. Knowing you personally, I hear your pain when we talk about the furbabies that have past. Larry is right that you are holding back. I would say, though, that you are protecting yourse...

With photos that large, it's hard to judge. I took liberties and enhanced and resized your photo. https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-rI_cJ8adGfQ/UEgj4W9GkvI/AAAAAAAAAYM/b4JcIUQS1D4/s600/Kovu%252520Fullredone.jpg To give you perspective, this is Lily (34lbs) with Dillon (77lbs) https://lh6.googleuser...

Re: Need some help.
He could be a cross. Hard to tell from the photo, though. Some wise acher might have thought to make him look like a cocker. My bitch purebreed is 34 pounds and very petite for a female. one at 25 pounds and male to boot is still a pup, or maybe a Pomeranian/Chow mix.

Re: Poor Ty!
A vet check and antibiotics will likely be the way to help Ty. Also, ask your vet about correct dosage for Benedryl. My vet says it does work, but they need much higher doses than humans to be effective. Good luck with Ty.

Re: My Chow mix bit me. :(
"...tonight when I tried to scoop her up to get a bath she snapped and bit me. It scared the crap out of me." I actually read that she is about a year old now, and was rescued at around 4 months old. In any case, you likely startled her and she reacted. I have a 2 year old rescue that was ...

Sorry to hear the bad news. Take care of yourself, and know we wish both you and Miss Z nothing but smooth sailing. While it won't cure you, try and find a way to relax, breathe deep, and find your center...yeah, I just suggested light meditation. But it has helped me in some recently horrible times.

Re: Shes no Chow, BUT
Bella is a doll. The only way you lose your Chow friends is if you abandon them. We are not breed snobs (mostly). My future SIL lost his Golden to stomache cancer at the beginning of Summer, and it had been his boyhood dog. He looked for another GR to repair the hole in his heart, but all he could s...

Re: D'Lion and his bun
Nope he just carries it. He took it out last night and left it and this morning it was wet with dew, so I set it on a fence post to dry. On the next trip out, Dillon saw it and just kept staring and whining til I took it down and he happily carried it around his yard.

True, it is a blend. But a cute one. See if your pup has any dots of purple at all on her tongue. If so, these will likely grow bigger with time. Just love her, no matter what her breeds may be.

Re: Male chow owners,HELP!!!!
I had to laugh remembering last week, when I was asleep and all 3 of mine were pacing, grunting, farting (Montana), and staring at me to get up and put them out. Twice I told them to settle, but they were persistent. I figured the old girl at least likely had to relieve herself, so I finally relente...

Mine ignore all signs to stay out of the gardens. They have laid waste to my Hostas, and love hunting rodents in my Phlox and Artemisia. BUT- it is their yard, so I am redesigning to meet their needs. How Dillon didn't smush the Columbine I have no idea, but he lays right up on it!
