Re: Romeo doesn't care for food.....much

Yes, that is our new Dreamland puppy! She is a handful.... so much fun. How is Romeo doing besides the food issue? I have not seen him in such a long time. I am sure he has changed a great deal.

Re: Romeo doesn't care for food.....much

Chance often has periods like that. His food is still there when I get home from work. I think part of it is the heat right now. They just are not as active and don't need as much food. As long as he has no health issues, I would not stress it too much. I am not sure if you have ever considered raw ...

Re: Keeping the bib dry

We are getting the new puppy used to the dryer. She was fine with blow drying her bib. BUT... when I gave her a bath and dried her from head to tail, she freaked out a bit.

13 weeks. Raine's hair is so long that you can barely see her ears. So much fun at this age

Re: Chow puppy with pink nose?

Oh MY.... I am beyond heart broken to hear that you lost your beautiful girl. I am happy that she was able to spend most of her short life with someone that loved her so deeply. Big Hugs to you for all that you did for this little angel. side note* None of us have PERFECT dogs. It does not matter, o...

Re: 11 week old puppy growling

My puppy is close to the same age. With her, she doesn't know how to end "crazy" play. A couple times per day she works herself up and is a bit nippy. I don't know the best method, but this is what is working for us. I grab the back of her neck and give a loud "EHT" sound. If she...

Re: tips on crate training

All of my dogs are crate trained. The only one of my dogs that is currently "sleeping" in the crate is the 12 week old puppy. She will continue to sleep in the crate at night until I am confident that she will not get herself into trouble. Right now she chases the cat and chews on EVERYTHI...

I have never heard of using Epsom salt before! My crew absolutely love canned Salmon and Mackerel so they get it mixed with their food a few times a week.

Re: new puppy, need help !!!

I believe she is a mix.... Chow mixed with total CUTENESS! (not good at picking out other breeds) At 8 weeks, there is absolutely no way she can hold it all day. I wonder if you can giver her a designated potty area - with pee pads. A better solution would be to have someone stop in and let her outs...

I can see so many changes in 3 weeks! Just like Chance, she loves water.... http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y166/proudcavmom/Raine%2...

Re: Cage Size

Not sure about your dog. Mine head butted right through the metal fencing pieces. We ended up puppy proofing a room and closing him off with a puppy gate. This gave him more room and kept him safe

Re: Cage Size

He looks like he fits the crate nicely. I recently up-sized to a 48X30. It is actually big enough for two dogs. But I use the smaller crate for dog shows because he is not in it for extended periods.

They do grow up so fast! I swear she has already grown an inch. How much does Spartacus weigh now? Chance is holding steady now around 75lbs. He is a bit taller than many of the chows we see in the ring

Re: Is a chow chow right for my family?

Sorry for the delay. I read your post earlier but just got a few minutes to respond. I can only speak about my personal experience with chows and cats. My 2.5yr old chow has been around cats from the time he first came into our home. He chases them NON-STOP if given the opportunity. I personally bel...

We don't have any shows for a couple months. Too busy to travel and nothing local. (and slight burn-out from hitting it so hard early on this year)

Re: Spartacus our new puppy

Rory's Dad ~ Sounds like a hectic event, but you pulled thru! What you described is exactly what I fear with two chows. I will seldom have help and will need to decide from time to time which dog will be shown in the BOB competition if it comes down to Chance and my future puppy in the ring together...

Re: Thoughts on Crate Training - Not Crate Training

Chance was introduced to the crate from day one. He had short periods in it with treats. I set up a play pen around a small crate and he would crawl in and nap when he was wore out. This gave me time to do things around the house and not worry about him piddling on the floor or getting into somethin...
