Re: Everyone meet Pete!

Your baby is beautiful and I am so glad you have found another chow to help fill the gap left in your life. They get right into your heart these chows and leave such a hole when they leave. Congratulations Pete is adorable. I would say for toys....something snugly to comfort a puppy just left home, ...

Re: HAPPY 4th BIRTHDAY IZZIE

Thank you Cocoa :D I am a very bad mamma to forget thank goodness for Nancy who has a much better memory than me. Izzie had her Birthday treat of coming upstairs to lie on my bed and eat all my haribo that a friend brought me earlier in the week. Doggies are not normally allowed upstairs in our hous...

Re: Meet Nala

What a sweet lil face :D Chows seldom over eat. I suggest for such a baby you weigh out and use a measure to get the correct amount of food and split it into 4 or 5 small meals and let her have each one for ten minutes. If it is not all eaten pick it up and let her wait for the next but under eight ...

Re: Which face is indicative of a healthier chow?

Going purely by the photo I would say that there is some problem but that could just as easily be seasonal hay fever. As his face is not badly stained...and I have seen creams far worse affected than this I would say it is not a bad problem....but....entropien is in the chow breed and sometimes come...

Re: Am I being too sensitive?

This should cover all the training you will ever need....and remember it is the owner who mostly needs training. Once you know what to do the puppy will learn from your behaviour. I am a huge fan of Dr Dunbar :D

Re: Am I being too sensitive?

This kind of thing actually makes me quite angry. I am so sorry you and Bilbo have been treated so appallingly! Your puppy is being a puppy. Why some trainers feel the need to remove all of the dogs personality and individuality says more about the "trainer" than the dog. Your puppy bites ...

That brought tears to my eyes reading your heart felt posts. What a beauty Patience was and there is a special kind of look in her eyes. I am so sorry you have lost your love and companion. I would like to say with so much love to give please consider giving another chow the benefit of your warm and...

so Happy I just had to share :-)

About four years ago our desk top died and took all my Bramble baby pics with it except a few I had on an external drive. MY son tried to get them off the hard drive but they were all corrupted. I thought that they were all gone forever till today I got an email from photobucket and suddenly thought...

Re: Just popped in to say hello

Thank you so much for your lovely comments Shannon. I was just popping in but decided to stick around as there are still a lot of people here I remember from days gone by. How is sweet Clover getting on these days? It has been nice to catch up with some old faces here and Fb is going to be out for s...

Re: Which face is indicative of a healthier chow?

To some extent it is the luck of the draw once you have ruled out if parents have health problems but if you did a numbers poll I would imagine squishier have more problems. But you still get entropien in open faces. One of my friends with a beautifully open faced pretty girl has just had to have bo...

Re: Has anyone purchased a chow chow from D&M Farm?

You can tell a lot about a breeder by what they ask you. Imagine you were letting your toddler go to live with someone you didn't know! That's how I felt when I let my puppies go off into the world and I wanted to know every single thing about my potential owners and turned down dozens. If your bree...

Re: Food aggression help needed!

I think we are both totally talking about the same thing. Your examples let LovemyChowChow see exactly how to manage the situation. I do think with thought and training so that they all learn respect as, lets face it, Bear was not the one in the wrong first here, they can learn how to live together....

I suggest walking them all together and keeping moving as a way to get them comfortable together again. They need to regain trust with each other now.

Re: Food aggression help needed!

First off I suggest you take some deep breaths....you can get past this. Now the next thing is to think about the whole scenario. It was Bears treat and he had it taken out of his mouth....that should never have happened and if it did you should have intervened immediately to restore it to him. I wo...

Re: Am I being too sensitive?

Chows so easily loose trust and once broken is so hard to get back. Distraction with puppy chews, non contact play, exercise and most of all time will help. We have had two absolutely dreadful nippers/mouthers (my husbands dog nearly drove me to leave home!) and two who never ever even tried but all...

Re: Thoughts on Crate Training - Not Crate Training

God forbid that it should ever be necessary but although mine don't spend time in a crate now they are all fairly content to locked in if needs must. Bramble tore not one but two cruciates and that ability to be confined for periods when I couldn't be sure the postman or the window cleaner wouldn't ...
