Re: First hot spot :(
I only got the allergy part from my vet. So they're searching for the food causing it. It makes a lot of sense that an initial small cut can grow into the issue if conditions are right. I'm living in the Philippines, rainy season started, so lots of opportunity to catch an insect bite anyway and now...

Re: First hot spot :(
Simba, 7months also got his first hot spot. Interesting with the wet weather. I gave him a shower yesterday and we had very bad rain the whole day. even I blow dried the fur it didn't really dry completely. He also didn't like the noise of the blow dryer very much. Can stress and moist fur cause hot...

Re: Chows and cats
Yes, that's actually what Chibi did too. She only came back to the "Chow part" of the house this month. So approx. 6 month after Simba arrived. But she is not asking for respect, she always retreats. But thanks for the confirmation, I keep going with them, find it too cute when they're tog...

Re: Chows and cats
It takes my close supervision of Simba. Once he calmed down, Chibi fell asleep on the bed, so he settled below and I could take the shot. The moment she started moving, he went back to being too excited.
I had to "guard" Chibi out of the room. Patience will get us there.

Re: Chows and cats
agree with the "looking for excitement" part. He has the charm of an "bulldozer" when it comes to play invitations to Chibi. He approaches with big jumps and play barking, which annoys Chibi to the bones. She goes hiding, up high or gets defensive. Guess we have to wait until he ...

Re: Chows and cats
I'm working on getting a cream girlfriend for Simba. Isla is soooooooo.... cute. Chibi and Simba are on their way to getting along with each other. Simba is just too excited and wants to play all the time when he sees Chibi, but resting in one room is working already. http://i1162.photobucket.com/al...

Re: Simba 5mth old
Thanks for the feedback. The curls are very persistant. I brush him every day specially the curly front part. They become straight for 10minutes, just to back to the look on the picture. One advise I'm seeking is about the "panting". He is doing it consistently, he has aircon during nights...

Re: Help!!!.. my chow wont walk on leash..
He is very stubborn when it comes to talking. "come here, down etc." are all his to follow if he likes. But he reacts very well on body language, sounds and touch. I give him a "TSSSSS..." for stop what your doing and a double tongue click for come here. I normally get his attent...

Re: Help!!!.. my chow wont walk on leash..
That's why I used the collar, he really doesn't like the pulling feeling, so it's easier to make him move than with a harness.
the most important factor, you as human have to stay calm and controlled to avoid any choking specially in the beginning, when he still doesn't get it right away.

Re: Help!!!.. my chow wont walk on leash..
Simba, is five month old male. He learned walking on leash when he was 3.5month in two days. Now we're going to the Vet, exploring our village and the park. I can tie him to a chair in a open restaurant etc. Here is how it worked: I started as usual with letting him get used to have a collar around ...
