Re: Chows in Cod Liver Oil Advertisement 1931
What's interesting is that this is a depression-era advertisement, a time when so many children suffered from malnutrition diseases such as rickets, etc. It was also an era of the Chow Chow's large wave of popularity, after being owned by the wealthy and famous in the roaring twenties, including Pre...

How long ago has she been put on this new formula? Could you paste the detailed ingredients list of the formula she ate before, including all treats, any added fresh foods, etc? If she hasn't been on the new food for very long, her body, her immune system, is built from the old food. It takes time f...

Re: Advice on Bedding?!
A crib mattress, is the perfect size for an adult Chow's bed. While Chow's do prefer cool surfaces, they will also give their joints some comfort and visit their beds. It becomes their special place to eat treats, keep their toys, and it's a good place to groom them.

Re: hot spot
Hot spot problems are most often rooted in diet. When the diet is unbalanced, having too many pro-inflammatory ingredients, just about *everything* becomes an itch trigger. Increased itching, allows the skin's staph and yeast an easier entrance. Anti-inflammatory ingredients dampen the itch response.

My dog is 5months old chow chow....what happen to her? At that age you have the combination of surging hormones, teething, the rebellious phase of development, and on top of all that, there's probably the added household stress surrounding your couture deadline, possibly not paying as much attentio...

Re: Not shedding
If Bella doesn't have problems with her weight, you might feed both of them a large breed puppy formula like Solid Gold's "WolfCub" for a couple of months. When Bruin is about six months old, you can evaluate whether he is building fat or muscle at that stage, and start switching them over...

Re: Diarrhea / watery stool / followed with blood
so when I read the dog food label it should not contain corn and wheat right? No added sugars, fillers, by-products, by-product animal fat blends, toxic preservatives, etc. The hangup I have with dogfood companies is how long they've been in business. If they've been in business for a while then th...

How much protein is too much?? Or how much is too little? We recently decided to change food for several reasons, and one of the brands we were eyeing had 40% protein, and that seemed alittle too high for me? Am I crazy?? We were initially drawn to the food because it is grain free.. we passed on i...

Ok thanks, no brewers yeast for Coco! :D So basically, would you say it would be ok to try to give her the powder garlic as long as there is no brewers yeast inside too? Even if it was pure garlic, I don't think it would make much difference. I think you would be better off balancing her diet (lowe...

Re: garlic powder
If the flea-away contains brewer's yeast, Coco will probably have a problem with it. She had a problem with the Platinum food containing brewer's yeast. She also had a systemic yeast problem (allergic itch reaction). Brewer's yeast is an itch trigger for such dogs.

I am trying to find a professional to work with but in the meantime, I'm not sure what to do.Should I lock him up in a room by himself everytime someone comes over? Should I get a muzzle? Locking him away is just like living with a loaded gun. It's a way to manage the problem, but it's not going to...
