Re: Help! My chow Simba stopped eating?
What brand are you feeding him now? He may not want it because it has something that makes him feel itchy or bad. Eliminate anything with corn, wheat, soy and gluten as these are top allergens. Acana is cheaper than royal canin and so is Canidae. Buy from a specialized pet store not the grocery or d...

That is true. My chestnut as a puppy had a full on widow' speak with shaggy mane of hair all around. When she hit eight months it started receding and is now smooth on that area with only shorter hairs standing up.

It's funny how they find their way to us right? You had no way of seeing each other directly but outside forces did it for you. You are BOTH so lucky.

Re: Introducing my precious Patience!
Oh Mighty Chow, my deepest condolences. My only consolation for you were that they spent their last days knowing they were loved by you and did not die alone. Thanks so much for rescuing these regal dogs. Do not force it if you do not feel up to adopting a new Chow. The right one will tap into your ...

What a helpful, responsible little guy! Most children and dogs cannot be relied upon to hold on to their things and drop them along the way. Isn't Tiberius a smart one!

Re: Pee & Poop
Mine poops in one designated place in the garden but when it comes to peeing she does so in three sides. My vet said the peeing is a marking of territory to inform any other dogs or pets that may come or are already there that this area is her territory. What solved this for us was wee pads or newsp...

Re: Do i dserve having her!?
Who feeds and keeps her company when you are gone? As long as her needs are met in terms of food, water, playing, company while you are gone then she will be fine. Your baby will be a family dog, loved by all. I stay in a country where we are fortunate enough that maids are affordable. When we have ...

Re: Chows and tropical climates/Travelling with a Chow?
If it's always been a dream then you should not have adopted a dog in the first place. For your own sanity? It has to be a whole year huh? You were just going to foist your loyal chow to friends and your parents if they could take them? I don't know what is going on in your life but you really shoul...

One thing I love about my Chow is that she hardly barks unless there is some urgency like she is hurt or there is a stranger.

Re: How to remove ticks and fleas
I apply frontline plus religiously every thirty days. For a major infestation it took three months to completely clear out the fleas. If that does not work use K9 Advantix 2 from Bayer which also repels fleas and ticks. I also use soap containing gliciridia sepium and neem which kills off parasites,...

Re: My two chow chow dogs are fighting badly
Litter mates and same *Censored Word*. That is the problem. When I wanted to adopt two sisters from the same litter I was dissuaded by other breeders. They warned me about Litter mates syndrome and how challenging it would be. Why don't you tire them out in exercise and give them their own space for...

Re: I need advise ASAP
Your dog seems more Chow than retriever attitude wise. It could be one or all of these things: 1. The teen rebellious age, battle of wills. My sweet tempered Chow girl has just turned one last March 17. Something changed at around 11 months onwards. She started rebelling in little ways. Refuses to w...

She does not know why you spanked her and will now be wary of you. She was not doing anything bad intentionally. We correct dogs firmly but calmly now. Screaming and hitting them is old style and will lead dogs to shut down. Change her food to grain free puppy food. She is not getting enough protein...

When the right Chow comes along your three angels from the rainbow bridge will lead you to that dog that needs you to rescue it. Keep checking the rescues so you get to save the one meant for you.

Re: 2 year old chow very anxious - need advice
She is territorial. I am a bit anxious my advise won't work as she is already 2 years old and may be wise to my tricks. Anyway here goes. Try meeting up with your grand kids on neutral territory and beg them to not be nervous. Stay calm and ignore the dog until she is done sniffing them. Keep your b...

Re: Everyone meet Pete!
Your baby is adorable! Hello Pete! My chow's fave toy is her rope bone. I had to stock up on several so I could wash one and she would still have one to munch on. It came on really handy when she was on her biting phase. I also got her terry cloth teddy bears and stuff toys. Other fave toys are scar...

My Chestnut had droopy ears like that until 4 months. She is definitely pure chow as I got her from a champion breeder and she came with papers. I look at your horiri's feet and everything else. Looks like a pure chow to me.
