Re: Wont stop BITING!
I also agree with Victory. I am somewhat going through the same situation with bite inhibition. Matilda is 5 months old and it seems like her evenings are her rowdiest. She is like clock work everynight she starts in about 7:30 just being a little terror wanting to get on you and bite, bite, bite. W...

Please don't give up on him. Take your time and continue to keep calling places to see if there are cheaper places or places that take payment plans. I am not from Canada so I'm not familiar with what is up there. Down here in the states we can go to a university (Kstate) that offers discount prices...

Re: Home Alone Training
I don't know that it is reasonable to expect a 4 month old in a crate with water to hold it all day. Perfect case scenerio would to be able to have someone let him out for a potty break during the day. Chows want to be with there owner as much as they can especially when there young, it helps with t...

Re: New Neutered 10 month - what to do?
Tucker is a good lucking boy. Make sure you take him if not already to your own vet to have him checked out. He shouldn't be having coughing attacks; nor should he be weak. Most definately he should be able to jump up on the couch (with your permission of course!). Tucker is 10 months old he should ...

Re: Tess & Me
Well........I don't know what to say. The story of Tess is absolutely a wonderful story. I must admit it took me a couple of days to get through it all but wow it was great . I think Tess knew what wonderful parents he had. He was not about to pass up the opportunity when he saw Mike all those years...

Re: Thoughts for the evening: Goodbye old friend, Hello new
Definately contact your breeder to make sure everything went allright. I don't see a problem with checking in and possibly asking for a photo of your new pup.... That only assures you that yes your pup is doing fine and lets you get to see her for the first time. I would also expect updates on her f...

Re: house train
I second JDcell100's comment- Chows love to be part of a family. They are one of the easiest if not the easiest breed to potty train.. I kid you not Matilda was potty trained in 2 weeks. Please take the time to let your Chow Chow become a part of your family and stay inside the house with the rest o...

Re: Thought I Would Update on Cricket
I am soooo glad this is working out. Sometimes all it takes is sitting back and taking a good look at the situation, and sometimes the answers are right in front of you. I absolutely love this web site so that everyone can talk about their individual situations and learn from one another. There is s...

Re: Blue Buffalo Puppy Formula Good?
I had my puppy on Eukanuba, and switched her to Blue Buffalo because I heard wonderful things. I switched gradually as was explained and Matilda started to get the runs after the first 48 hours. Not to mention the horrible gas that went with it. I mean she was only receiving maybe less then a 1/4 cu...

Re: Nothing vet can do, can anyone suggest anything
Did the vet do any x-rays or other testing on Albertz to determine why she was in pain? I know at one point my chow chow of 13 years when her hind legs starting hurting and you could obviously tell she was in pain they gave her an anti-inflammatory and it really seemed to help tremendously. We lost ...

Re: Do Your Chows Sulk and Mope?
[ Oceans I'd love to reconsider, any suggestions? I've tried shorts and bandages and she's pulled them both off at night to only gnaw at herside and make it bigger (orange size now). Shes on meds but it will take some time to kick in. Shes pretty good during the day just night time when I can't stop...

I understand why Nikki would sulk and give you a sad look, I imagine it can't feel good to have to wear a collar with a hotspot. You might want to reconsider this.

Re: Who Took My Sweet Chow and Replaced Him with THIS??
It sounds like there might be to much caos in the house right know. With the loss of your other dog, Cricket just might need to have his situations a little less stressful for the time being. I definately would consider waiting on getting another puppy right know.

Re: How to find a qualified vet
This is absolutely rediculous that a vet tech would refuse to give a medicine to a sick dog. Are you kidding me I would be devastated also. I'm sure he was "grumpy" he was sick. I'm grumpy when I'm sick. l actually would call around and speak with a vet himself to see if it would be a good...

walking and other dogs
I have a question that I hope someone can help me with. Matilda is 10 weeks old and I take her for a short walk in the evenings (mainly just to help socialize). The problem that has crept up in the last couple of days is that she wants to bark at everyone that she encounters when we walk wthether it...

Re: Dealing with loss...
Hi Ed, I am so sorry to hear about all of your losses. Each one of them are such devastating cicumstances. Did your mom interact on a frequent basis (daily) with your chow, and were you there when it happened? I ask this because I have heard stories of chows biting for no particular reason. But in m...

Re: 8 Week Old Female Chow - Scared/Shy HELP
It seems to me you are going to have to really spend extra time socializing her. I think when you are working with a chow chow that comes home on the shy side it is extremely important to put the effort into socializing, socializing, socializing. I think you putting her in puppy class is great! You ...

Re: How Often Should You Vaccinate Your Dog?
Thank you for posting this series of videos. This was very informative. You're very welcome! I wonder if vets are very receptive to this idea of giving just the core vaccines that are needed. I will discuss this with my vet when I take Matilada at the end of the month. Personally I will push for th...
