Re: need comments on my new chow pup (xbreed)

Isn't he cute enough already :?: :?: :?:
I'm afraid there's no way you can make him look more like a chow. But you can love him for who he is and be happy with the supercute sweetie-pie that life gave you.

Re: New Chow Chow Owner - Need Advice!

Hi! You've already discovered the only way to make your chow obey and respect you. With a little firmness and lots of kindness! =D= Don't throw her on her back. She won't understand what you want to tell her. It's just brutality masked as an education tool. What is appropriate in a pack of wolves wh...

Re: Assistance with our Chow

Wow, that is one outrageous post! I have been searching online and everything says we should Euthanize her. What a big, fat lie! Working with her on her fears is what is recommended everywhere! PLUS: not cornering a dog! NO DOG WANTS TO BE CORNERED! It is crazy-stupid to corner a dog, especially one...

Re: chow chow and its smell

Chows are the opposite of smelly. That is yet another reason why they are so special. They don't even have that typical dog stink. They smell completely neutral, at least Baloo does!

Re: No more yard for our furkid!

Three times a day is the absolute minimum! Four times a day is quite comfortable for your dog. How we do it here: 1 long walk in the morning, 1 afternoon potty break, 1 long walk in the evening, 1 leisurely stroll around midnight.

Re: Questions that need answering NAO!

The reason I want a puppy is because I want to socialize him a certain way, for I am getting a kitten along with him. If it were an adult dog there would be problems with not only my current Chow Chow but with the baby cat too. You don't know that! Both my rescue adult chow and my rescue adult cat ...

Re: Puppy problems

Everything you've read here you need to pass on to your dad. He is the dog's primary caregiver, he's the one who is responsible for the potty training and the puppy's training in general. It's possible that your dog thinks of your dad as his master. I know that that might be painful to you, but it j...

Re: Gracies Scared...

Thanks for the info!!! I think you already guessed that that woman was probably lying to you and your puppy wasn't socialized at all. One of the first rules when buying a puppy is that happy & healthy puppies should be lively, nosy & curious. Your puppies weren't, which was a huge warning si...

Re: 11 week chow chow health questions

It's time for the second round of shots soon. Call your local vet and ask him/her how soon. It's a great opportunity to make contact with a vet. Even puppies can have health emergencies, and you won't know where to turn if it happens in the middle of the night. Being prepared means saving precious t...

Re: Gracies Scared...

Please tell us more about that breeder and the puppies' living conditions! Most likely your puppy's problems stem from her early childhood at that breeder's. 7 weeks is very young for a puppy to be taken away from her mother, but I doubt that that's all that went wrong during her first weeks on earth.

Well, don't let him/her! I can almost guarantee you that somebody is going to steal him/her. After all, Chow puppies are the cutest puppies there are.

Re: Introducing a non-Chow to a Chow household

Of course it's more difficult for the "only-dog" to adjust. Naturally she's not too eager to share you with anyone. Especially girls who have always been the center of attention can react nasty when an "intruder" comes into their home and wants to get a share of "their"...

Re: Yogis Leg falls asleep?

Sounds like it could be patellar luxation. Wait for your next paycheck, then get him checked out! He's your dog, and has only you to protect and take care of him! If you don't help him, nobody will! It's not that expensive to get one leg x-rayed. You'll feel better once you know for sure that it is ...
