Re: Dealing with loss...

Cooper 223, May you find comfort in your memories. Just remember that you gave Cooper a wonderful life and that your memories of all the wonderful times together will stay with you forever. I would love to hear what a wonderful dog cooper was when you feel like sharing. Sometimes when the grief is s...

Re: crate training

I would never crate chow unless absolutely necessary. They hate being crated and develop phobias very easily. Chows are normally born potty trained and although you may have a few accidents this is normally one of the easier things to deal with. Thanks for the information; I did not realize chows c...

Re: crate training

I have to agree with Blackbear. Do you really feel the need to Crate your dog, and if so, why? I don't agree with crating any dog. I won't even go on a holiday if I can't find someone to house sit. I'm sure without a doubt that locking my dogs in a cage, even the size of the ones at a good kennel, ...

crate training

Hi everyone, I would like to know everyone's thoughts on crate training. I have a 8 week old who absolutely cannot stand to go in her crate. I have tried treats and praising her but she is at the point where if she knows you are going to put her in there she stiffens up and wiggles like a little wor...

Re: Rest in Peace ... Our Garden Guard

May Kimba rest in peace. This is so very well written. You obviously know what it is to love the chow and all of there quirky sounds they make. My favorite is probably the harummmmmph. Kimba was lucky to have a mom that spent so much time with her. I often find that just having their companionship m...

Re: Food For Chows

I had a chow for many many years, she was extremly allergic to chicken. She would itch and itch and itch. As soon as we switched her to another brand she would clear up and you could tell she felt much better. So I think it just depends on the Chow. Good Luck

Re: Welcome new puppy Jasmine

Thanks for the advice. What do you think about crate training? Jazz did pretty good last night she was put in her crate at 10:00 and she slept till about 11:30 and then she started crying pretty good. I got up and held her for a little bit and then put a stuffed animal in there with her ( I thought ...

Welcome new puppy Jasmine

I just adopted an 8 week old puppy. Her name is Jasmine. I will probably call her Jazz most of the time. The gentleman I purchased her from has had chows for the last 25 years and said that all (3) of his chows are very sociable. I brought her home tonight and she did wonderful. Walked around the ya...

Re: Puppy scared of strangers, nipping

Is Malachi a chow? How was Ursa inside the house; was she fearful or was she most confident in the house? How old was Ursa when you rescued her?

Re: Puppy scared of strangers, nipping

I have had two chows. My first one passed on of natural old age at the age of 15 roughly 3.5 years ago and I still miss her to this day. She was very comfortable and confident in her own skin. The second chow chow I owned was exactly as you described in your situation it sounds like your pup is very...

These dogs are absolutely beautiful. How in the world did you get all three of them to get along? This is awesome.

She was absolutely beautiful and very lucky to have a mom like you. The pain we feel when they pass on is unbelievable but they are never forgotten.

Forever Izza

We lost our chow of 14 years and am starting the process of looking for another Chow Chow to spoil and treat like royalty. Does anyone have any ideas where to get a well balanced (not overly shy or overly aggressive) chow chow puppy. I thought I would try this forum because of the dedication and lov...
