Three days before we were leaving on a cruise, the boarding kennel (supposedly the best one in the Bay area) called and said, "we just noticed - you have a chow - we don't do chows, sorry". AAAHHH!!! So... we wound up asking the woman who cleans our house every two weeks. She'd been coming...

First, I would take him to the vet and rule out any medical issues. Chows (like everyone) can become moody when ill or hurt; only they have no way of telling us they hurt.

Yep - I know that feeling. We put the cat on EVO because it's grain free. He hates it. Everyday he complains to my husband and Erik just tells him, "It's either that or death". Poor cat - I think he understands because then he eats his fill and goes back to sleep. He's an old guy but that ...

When will the government realize that it's those little puntables that cause all the problems? I hate those things... I'm glad to hear Pekoe is all right, Jeff. And I agree with Lou - you should get that woman's license plate and file a complaint. People like that shouldn't own animals! Besides maki...

I've switched the cat over to EVO (grain free) out of fear. He's not a big fan of it, but hey - he's alive. It'll grow on him when he's hungry enough. The dogs are now on home-cooking and Canidae. Canidae doesn't use glutens and doesn't import any of their ingredients. But I'm watching them like haw...

We switched from the Nature's Balance venison dry to Canidae about 4 months ago because Nina reacted to the food.

I'm running low on cat food and am terrified to go and buy more.

Rogan loves bunnies. \:D/

They taste like chicken... #-o

Seriously though - bunnies drive him insane and if he catches one, it will be dead.

It's a chow thing. The hunter instinct.

NEW FOOD RECALL -- Natural Balance

There's no wheat gluton in this brand, so who knows.

OK - here's some more proof that people who own chows are total and complete KLUTZes. I would like to add my contribution. Ignoring the facts that I have been known to walk into walls and fall down and trip over nothing... For some insane reason, about 1 1/2 years ago, I decided to start taking kara...

Rogan used to go days without eating. Then we began mixing one tablespoon of the Wellness wet into his food. Lo and behold, he ate it! BUT - we have to buy a variety of all of the flavors. If we put two of the same can in a row, he'll stop eating again.

Rogan's over 9 and he only does it every once in a while. It depends on the situation. If he's on grass, he'll just stand there and pee, occasionally he'll life a back leg slightly off the ground. If he's on a 'mission' and needs to mark everything in sight, he'll lift his leg to 'make a statement'.

It sounds as though you are simply giving up. Trust me - your border collie won't be long for the household either because the behavior will not stop. Out of the two breeds, I would trust a chow over a BC any day of the year. Just my personal experience though. I have two dogs and a human child. The...

YAY Maggie! She sounds like a great girlie! Give her a purple kiss from Rogan. I hate those little yappy things that go uncontrolled by their owners. They are nervous breeds to begin with (I'd be nervous too, if I were 2 lbs.) and their owners do nothing to help because they are so small 'they can't...

Petsmart will help with the commands part too. The thing that people like me love Petsmart for is the distractions factor. If your baby can perform in Petsmart then he can perform anywhere! Even after we didn't go to Petsmart for the classes or food, we'd still bring the dogs there and work them. Si...

I've trained all three colors and while the breeders will tell you there's no difference, there's a HUGE difference in personality and it's tied to the colors. Yellows are your 'typical blondes'. Airy, lighthearted, easy to train and will learn anything. Blacks are focused, more laid back about life...

I don't like trainers who bully chows into submission. I've been training dogs for over 10 years and frankly, that type of training will get John bit as Sid gets older. At 9 months, Sid is still a puppy and not really fully confident in himself. As he gets older, he won't tolerate that type of treat...
