Re: Scotti's knee.....

Good luck Scotti and best wishes for a speedy recovery. Good to hear you've found a good vet this time. If you ever need a great veterinary ophthalmologist, you can check out Dr Rainbow at South Texas Veterinary Specialists. They have other specialties there in addition to eye surgery. I think this ...

Re: Rescue advice - long

Thanks for the offers...I could use some help. We were doing great with raking and cutting some mats out this morning. I slipped a muzzle on her and cut all the gunk from her belly and backside. Then I pulled her into the bathroom/tub...OMG!!! You'd think I was spraying her with acid. I could hear B...

Re: Rescue advice - long

Erin has figured out how to get up on the bed. #-o She's still a mess, so that's not a good thing. She let me clip that huge mat off her back this morning, but I still think she'll be better off shaved. I'm going to attempt to bathe and shave her tomorrow...wish me luck!

Re: TX HB 1982 - need your help - hearing Monday

This is going to be a tough one...San Antonio Express newspaper ran a very biased story about how "pit bulls" killed a 7 month old baby the other day. http://www.mysanantonio.com/pets/Vicious_dogs_targeted.html This is a very tragic story that never should have happened. What person in the...

Re: Rescue advice - long

I thought Bama drank moonshine, but I suppose JD would do in a pinch. Bama, when you coming over??? It's amazing how Erin has changed over the past few days. She's got a great little personality, but is still afraid of sudden movements and I haven't tried grooming again. I may get brave and ge...

Re: Advice Needed!!!

Dang, that's frustrating, but don't give up!! I know people in San Antonio post on Craigslist about this kind of stuff going on in their neighborhood. Maybe you could try something like that asking for advice. There's power in numbers. I'm sure you're already very careful with Butters, but if I were...

Re: Rescue advice - long

Thanks everyone!! Little Miss Erin is getting to be quite the attention hog lately. She even gave me a couple purple kisses yesterday and licked my foot this morning. I'm almost afraid to have her shaved because I can feel her spine. She's putting on weight, but it's going to take some time. I...

Re: Advice Needed!!!

It's so sad that it took this to get some action, but I'm so proud of you Tammy for sticking to your convictions and getting this jackass. Hopefully he's convicted of animal abuse/cruelty and they throw his sorry butt in jail.

Re: Advice Needed!!!

Those poor baby pups. I know I would be raising all kinds of hell if my neighbors did something like that, but I'd also be scared for my pack. The world is full of jackasses. You can look up the homeowners name in your county's tax appraisals website. Try this website to see if your county is listed...

Re: Rescue advice - long

We'll have to share the JD. My vet only recommended the additional booster because there's been an outbreak of parvo in the area (and the vet office) lately. I think it'll be okay. Erin was given ACE the first days she was here and she was still moving but very out of it. I don't really want ...

Re: Rescue advice - long

She does have nice fur, but the mats are unbelievable. There's one huge clump on her back. That's the only reason I'm considering a full shave. I've emailed the groomer that I took Bear to recently. He's also an animal behaviorist so maybe he'd be able to work with her. I'm sure he won't be cheap, b...

Re: Rescue advice - long

The vet plan fell through. I arrived with Erin and nobody there knew what I was talking about. This was after being ignored for a good five minutes. They told me to wait while they helped another customer. I didn't get good vibes from the place. I left. I have an appointment next Tuesday with one of...

Re: Rescue advice - long

You know the more I look at Erin I can see the Golden Retriever now. I guess I'm used to red GRs with Tod. Erin is coming around extremely well. I'm very surprised about her progress because of the state in which she arrived. I get the happy dance a lot and she likes to run through my legs from behi...

Re: Rescue advice - long

She is pretty in a Raggedy Ann kind of way. :D I tried a little grooming today and she'd have none of that. I took it slowly and only got a few brush strokes before she started nipping at my arm and brush. Lots of the fur is loose so it's coming off on its own in the yard (and house). I figured a ba...

Re: Rescue advice - long

Did I mention I'm going to close on a house on 22 April and I have a final that was probably due yesterday??? arrrrrgh The good thing about the house is we'll have over three acres to roam (once I get a fence put in). Thanks for all the great advice and kind words. She's not out of the woods yet. If...

Rescue advice - long

I think I may have gotten in over my head with this one. I was scheduled to transport a female Chow (mix) coming from Houston to WTCR yesterday. I picked the girl up on Thursday afternoon. Thankfully we had transport from Houston to San Antonio. I haven't personally seen a dog in this condition befo...

Re: Maxine's vet visit 2

Too bad about the worms, but guess you never know what "bugs" our rescues will harbor until they've been with us for a little while. Can't you stick with the Iverheart and add a dewormer like Safe-Guard? I know Iverheart is the least expensive HW preventative we use in our pack (for Tod). ...

Re: TLC Chow Rescue Quilt on EBay

Time's getting short for this beautiful work of art. If I weren't trying to buy a house, I'd be bidding up a storm. I hope TLC has another auction AFTER i've settled in a new house...I plan on decorating a guest room in a Chow theme.

Sounds like Miss Maxine has more than one person/canine wrapped around her dainty liitle paw.
I think someone promised us new pics once her fur started filling in on her belly.
