Re: Raincoat

http://i196.photobucket.com/albums/aa276/pfordeb/SullivanRaincoat.jpg I will probably have to make this two posts because I can't figure out how to add them together, but here's a picture I've posted before. I'll repost Sullivan's reaction. We also got one for Gilbert and Charlie, all from a catalo...

Re: Your pets remains after passing, Life Gem

Actually I would consider doing that if I had that money lying around too. I suppose the idea is a little weird and maybe not as natural as other forms of remains. But I like the idea of a forever diamond dog. I know Sullivan wouldn't mind, being the girly girl she was.

Today's Daily Puppy

Look who's the featured puppy on The Daily Puppy today: http://www.dailypuppy.com/puppies/Draco-the-Chow-Chow_2008-11-18 Sorry I can't post the picture, but you'll notice I posted some comments there. Does this cutie belong to anyone here? I just love this site (but I think I've mentioned that a few...

Re: We love the cold

We did have flurries today, enough to cover the ground, and Forrest said "The boys aren't too sure about snow." They've seen it before, if they remember, and Charlie's tiny with teeny little legs, but "Oh, Gilbert."

Re: We love the cold

Gilbert has kicked it up a notch. Maybe that's why we're having a hard time catching him. I'd love to see a dog ice surfing, but I'm not really a cold or hot weather person. Give me 70 degrees year round.

Re: Greased Pig

That is exactly it, Lise -- Genghis Khan at a Tupperware party. Sullivan did that look (although that was also the one time she got nippy). Gilbert spends the whole time trying to escape, even when both of us are holding him. On the sad side, we think he may have been abused at some point in his lif...

Greased Pig

I was going to make this another "Oh, Gilbert" post, but I liked this title better. Trying to catch Gilbert to brush him is like trying to catch a greased pig. Or catching a little kid who needs to take a bath or medicine. He can flatten out his body like a mouse squeezing into or under th...

Gilbert's stealth moves and other topics

Every week I think of things I want to post, then I never get around to it. Here are some of this week's events. 1) I've mentioned before that the boys like to eat out of each other's dishes despite the fact that Charlie's is about 1/10 of the size of Gilbert's. Yesterday, Charlie was eating out of ...

Re: Opinions Please

I think most of the people on this site have faced this at one time or another. I did, myself, for the first time this summer. Just know we are all with you on this. You and Joey will make the decision together. That's what everyone told me and it turned out to be true. He will let you know what he ...

Re: The first puppy

Thanks for the links. I added my comments about getting a rescue or shelter dog (and the fact that there could be no house training with an older dog). There are labradoodles and golden doodles at our shelter all the time. Shelters and rescues have puppies too as we all know. Now I know they probabl...

Chia's been adopted. It must have just been in the last 24 hours or so. I'm glad, but a little sad. Obviously she wasn't the one.

Dog's say "leave the driving to us"

Did anyone else see this story? I totally believe it, because Sullivan repeatedly tried to drive. I don't just mean sit in the driver's seat, she put the car into gear. Forrest had to turn off the car to open the garage door, or she'd be tooling down the road. Dog Gone: Pooch Drives Away From Car Wa...

The Daily Puppy

A friend told me about this site: http://www.thedailypuppy.com Every morning I get a dose of cute to start my day. They also have a section for "older puppies" (AKA dogs). I listed the boys. Anyway, here is todays: Non-chow (but maybe somewhere in the mix). I'd just never heard of that spo...

Re: Someone Tried Our Door At 2 AM...

Interesting to note that a chow can win a fight with a Rottie! The only being Gilbert has any desire to beat up is Sullivan's former boyfriend, Havoc the Samoyed. We thought Gilbert was just protecting Sullivan, since Sullivan and Havoc were crazy in love with each other, but he went beserk the othe...

Gilbert would bark, but then he'd hide in the bathroom until the intruder went away.

Re: Help -- we put a "hold" on Chia

I'm starting to think "enough already," but Chia is still at the shelter. Forrest finally told me that his hips hurt so much that he is considering getting a fence or dog run, so we could get another dog, but I also think he and Chia didn't click. She's definitely not Sullivan. She's more ...

Re: How do you celebrate Halloween?

This year we did not get one kid trick-or-treating. We do live at the end of a street and sometimes kids don't get that far. Plus alot of the neighborhood kids are growing up or grown. That much more candy for me. I considered doing reverse trick-or treating and going around to houses giving away ca...

Re: Help -- we put a "hold" on Chia

Forrest's new excuse is: he doesn't think it would work out since Gilbert is trying to be alpha now. I think it's just Forrest trying to be alpha over me. One way or another I always win in the end (I'm the true alpha in the household). Maybe Chia isn't the right one, but you're right Sharon, I'd ra...

Re: Meant To Be??? Or Terrible Mistake??? Teachers

Haha -- you are totally right about ambien and the suggestions for better sleep. I actually went to a sleep clinic last summer and that is exactly what they said. I am probably a lost cause, because they did prescribe Ambien CR on top of all the other things. The CR version works better for me becau...

Re: Meant To Be??? Or Terrible Mistake??? Teachers

For grownups, there's Ambien or Ambien CR.

The weird thing for kids with ADD or ADHD, sometimes stimulants have the opposite effect on them, and they actually can sleep better, but a doctor would have to determine that.

Glad to hear the new job is going well, and good luck with everything.
