Re: Lola being dirty on furnitute
I agree with you, it sounds like a pet companion makes her very happy and you should definitely get her a friend once you've moved house!

Re: Help and Advice Chows UK
There seem to be a couple of rescues in the UK like this one: http://www.londonchowchowrescue.co.uk/ As an experienced Chow owner, a rescue Chow might be just the thing for you! With your experience, you are wasted on a puppy! :) @ Victory: In Northern/Central Europe, we rescue from our Southern cou...

Re: my chow chow bit me and I had to get stitches
Your dog obviously bit you because it was in pain Yes, that is quite obvious! It had nothing to do with him trying to be the alpha. It was a shock reaction he had no control over and that wasn't in any way personal. Don't be nervous about going to the vet, it will only make your Chow even more nerv...

Re: Lola being dirty on furnitute
Lola was kept outside in a kennel with puppies but not mum or dad That is probably where her behavioural issues stem from, her being separated from her mother way too early. Her mom couldn't teach her much in the short time they had together, and it probably caused her separation anxiety. So the tr...

Re: Not sure where this goes
You're terrified but you don't want to take her to the vet in case it's nothing? Those two things don't go together at all. If I was at the point of being terrified, there is no way I wouldn't take my dog to the vet. Your photos are very grainy, I can't tell anything from them! Take your dog to the ...

What a strange vet, who's not interested in finding out what is wrong with his patient or in making money.

I'm sure Charlie's seen a vet. Unless it was a home neutering! No, but you're right. If he continues to be down, maybe have a blood test at some point.ski wrote: Also, has charlie been seen by a vet? He could have a health issue if he was on his own for a while.

Another thing is, what if the puppy barks all day long? The neighbours are going to complain sooner rather than later and then you have no plan B.

Re: Lola being dirty on furnitute
Another problem is, once the couch stinks of pee, it's a designated pee-pee place. So you'll have to try and completely un-stink it, which is going to be difficult. Urine is nasty!

Re: can a chow chow stay outside by himself during the day?
Won't work, since the puppy is going to need a lot of loving care and attention at the beginning. No responsible breeder is going to give you a puppy when you both work full-time. Why not get an adult rescue that is used to being alone a certain amount of time every day? Your yard has to be secured,...

Re: Small lump on puppy's lower abdomen
Are you in touch with the breeder? Maybe they could tell you something about the male puppies' development. I think at this age testicles can sometimes still move back and forth.

Re: Small lump on puppy's lower abdomen
Could it be a runaway testicle? :? Testicles that aren't where they're supposed to be can turn cancerous. Or maybe just a testicle right on the way to where it's supposed to go? :) Could just be erectile tissue developing. When the adult male is "exited", he can get two lumps right and lef...

Re: New chow has aggression issues
Hi! I guess it was too early for her to be out on the town. Sounds like she isn't crowd-ready yet. My Loo still isn't, and I adopted him more than three years ago. Many rescue dogs have issues with men. I guess it's almost always men who are the abusers, not women. I can't say just how many times I'...

Re: Curious habits. Does your chow do this?
Our chows do do their bundles in the garden but they do it in one place and tell us so that we clean it up after them. I envy you! Loo has to be at least 10 minutes away from home before he'll even consider pooping. Which means one walkie after the other. Walk, walk, walk, walk, walk! :( My Newfie ...

Re: Curious habits. Does your chow do this?
That's not a Chow thing, that is a dog thing! It's how they cover their tracks so predators can't follow them. And there's Chow cleanliness. Loo would never defile his own garden by pooping in it.
