She's definitely a cutie, and looks a teeny bit shy about having her picture taken. My chows won't let me take their pics; I have to sneak and do it. Even without a flash, they turn their heads right as I click the shutter.

My Chows (siblings) pant a lot due to their arthritis. When they get their Rimadyl, the panting eases. They're a lot older than your boy (13 yo) though. I sure hope your boy is just a heavy breather.

Sounds like Sparky needs schooling, as in puppy obedience classes! Chows are very strong willed, so you will be in for a bit of a rough patch. The breed is worth it, so don't give up!

That's great that there's less of Whitby!! I had to cut back on my Shima's intake because of her bad left back leg, and it was hard on us because she loves her food. But she did, and she limps less now.
