Fishies
This is kind of a topic I don't think I have ever seen posted yet. I was cleaning Matilda this afternoon and she started smelling like she had a case of the fishies. This seems to happen probably 2-3 times a week. Does anyone know what causes this smell?

Re: Bark collar?
If I am correct a bark collar is used to either make a shock or spray citronella, etc. when a dog barks. I would not be in favor of this kind of training. Chows are to smart..... I feel if a dog is barking there has to be a reason, especially with a Chow. Tabate45 you described your Chow as being sk...

dog whisperer
I was surfing channels last night looking for something to watch and I came across the Dog Whisperer. I have seen this show before but I was just curious has anybody ever seen any of his episodes that include a chow. It seems to me that he has all different types of dogs but I do not ever recall see...

Re: Chow greeting
Matilda is full on circles and zoomies. She just absolutely loves it when you come home. I work part time so I am home most of the time with her. My husband usually gets home between 4:00 and 5:00 and usually she starts sitting at the door about 3:45 and waiting. Then when she sees his truck pull up...

Re: New puppy in the plans HELP!
l paid $450.00 for my chow and she is absolutely perfect. AKC registered and the best temperment ever. Over my lifetime I have owned 3 chows and she is by far the best with regards to temperment. I don't think you can necessarily say just because she is $400 that something is fishy. I would say take...

Re: Funniest Thing
This has got to be the funniest story I have heard in a long time. Came inside after finishing up staining the deck today and poured a glass of wine and thought I would see if there were any new posts. Lo and behold I read this hilarious story, thanks for posting. It was such a fantastic day outside...

So cute. I agree with Tipsy's mom he is a red. Matilda's color was the same as Neros at that age. Fun times ahead.....

I feed my 6 month old female Matilda Natural Balance- Sweet Potato and Venison. I actually switched her from Eukanuba. She seems to like this and poo is fine. I had actually tried to switch her before to Blue Buffalo and she got the poo just like you described. I have never tried this but a vet had ...

I think Sarahloo needs to chill out a little bit. I don't think coming at Sirchow accomplishes anything. I don't think he meant anything negative by his comments. I think we are all adults that can have adult conversations. Don't be so quick to judge.

Re: new puppy
I'm glad that you are giving him a chance. It seems like you are attached to the little fellow so just give him as much attention and love that you can. You've already started his shots and that is great. I swear if I ever win the lottery I will have a facillity to supply free care and vaccinations ...

Re: new puppy
Definitely a byb. It sounds like this pup is seriously having some issues. Get him to a vet and try to keep him snuggled (provides comfort and security), and make sure he is warm. I don't know what inbreeding would have to do with shaking but the whole story sounds odd. Please keep us informed.

Why would you want a chow that is a 100 pounds? What does a 100 pound chow do that a 50 pound chow doesn't?

Re: possibly adopting a chow.
Chows not that I have ever heard of are known for being a great jogging partner. They don't have high energy like some other dogs. Not to say they can't move fast but it is on their terms when they do. I take Matilda for a daily walk for about 20-30 minutes then it roughly takes her another hour to ...

Re: RIP Butter
I defintely understand what you mean by Butter leaving behind his best friend. When Nellie passed on her best friend oddly enough a Rottweiller (Harley, now passed on) almost passed away from a broken heart. I had never experienced this before but Harley literally cried and moaned and would not eat ...

Re: RIP Butter
I am so sorry to hear about Butter. I actually have commented several times to family members and have showed them pictures of Butter as to how gorgeous he was. Of course you're a worthy human because you have had the privilege four times of being owned by a chow. You obviously understand the specia...
