Conan died in May of 2005 and I found Bear about 3 months or so later. I agree he's trying to own me somehow...and I do spoil him. I need to work on that. Thanks everyone for helping me.

I think she has something against him cuz he's not Conan, my last chow mix. I love Bear very much and that bothers her for some reason. Could she be jealous cuz I love this dog so much? I've read this section before...and I can't help thinking of my beloved Conan, who passed away May 14, 2005...he was 15 1/2 years old. I still miss him so much and think of him every day.

My 3 yr old Chow/Shepard mix just doesn't like my 17 yr old daughter. He has teased him from the time I got him and states that she just doesn't like him, for what reason she says she doesn't know. My surgery went well and I came home feb 11th. Just now getting back on here, due to some bad days. Glad to be back among the Chow-People.

People get dogs for the wrong reasons sometimes, not because they truly want a companion and not because they really love the dog and enjoy taking care of it. I worked for a vet so I saw abuse firsthand. We also put animals to sleep from the local pound...very heartbreaking. Kinda glad I don't work ...

One of his worst things is when someone gets up to walk across the room and then he goes after them and tries to nip. As long as they're seated, he just watches them. He will not let many near me, so when someone says goodbye, they can't give me a hug cuz he's watching them. What is it about someone...

He growls, has snapped and nipped a few times...and just barks alot...shows his teeth, etc. I tell people to ignore him, but some won't. If I am not there, he acts so much nicer...what am I doing wrong?? Is it me??

I know just how you feel. I'm going in for surgery this Friday for a hysterectomy and can't bear the thought of being away from my baby for 3 days...I will worry about him so much. I feel the same way as Julia and would react the same. My house, my rules, and my dog was here first. This is his home, not theirs. I will make my dog behave though. But make his stay outside, nope.
