I just realized what a bad Chow mom I am. I have a total of 3 pictures of Orso, because he won't look at me when I try to take his picture. I also have NO idea when he was born (to be fair...I DID find him on the freeway, and he wasn't carrying his photo i.d. and lineage papers in his mouth!) Maybe ...

Unfortunately, I think that dog fighting and *Censored Word* fighting actually IS a part of some cultures. Vick didn't make it popular. He just brought it to the fore. It's been going on forever. While I don't believe SF has a great deal of it going on inside the city limits, I do know that we have ...

"Chit Chat" ???
I don't think of this site as being about chit chat at all! I've gathered some very good advice here.

What Lou says is true. These dogs were covered in their own filth and smelled to high heaven. I gave them each an Earth bath, and they smelled ever so much better afterward. And you KNOW I was sniffing their feets the ENTIRE time they were with me...I'm so ashamed!!! lol!!! Auddy, I'd love to...

Dear Jeff, Joan @ Adopt a Chow had a CIP on these pups, but she was unable to pick them up until after the weekend, which would have let them at Carson for four extra days. The woman who contacted me was worried they wouldn't last that long in that shelter, so I drove down there. It was a question o...

I wish I knew about the mom. The shelter simply had no idea.Lou suggested that with a litter this large, maybe the mom dies in childbirth? There's apparently no way for us to know.... Because of the circumstance in which they came to me, I can't vouch for their lineage, but Lou and I think they're p...

Much Ado About Chow Chows: Part One
Hi Folks - Caro, with all due respect, there is no way I'm lettin' these monsters leave my immediate vicinity. It was a bit of work to get them, and I intend to adopt them to folks nearby so I can keep tabs on 'em!!! You are always welcome to come to CA for an audience, of course!! So...the details ...

HOORAY!!!!
It is with GREAT pleasure that I let you all know that my former foster, Poe-Dog has been ADOPTED!!! He was introduced to Couple Number 2 yesterday, and it was an instant love connection. Poe even liked the HUSBAND (when DH heard this he hung his head all sad-like and said "What was so wrong ab...

So get this: after weeks of NO response to Poe's pic on the RDR website, he is now the MOST inquired-after dog...go figure! Couple Number 1 who came to meet him were great. The woman loved Poe but the husband wants a dog who will retrieve a ball or frisbee. If you threw a ball for Poe to fetch, he'd...

Attention Georgians...
Hi -
A fellow rescuer asked me for a referral for a rescue in GA. She's working on saving a Kelpie there, but needs a shelter to help spring him. Any thoughts? Recommendations?
Please feel free to email me or post here.
Thanx,
Jenn

I have to say a word about fostering here... Since April, I have been volunteering 3/4 time to Rocket Dog Rescue, a local rescue here in San Francisco. I started by fostering Poe, the little cream chow chow guy you may have read about in other threads on this site , and since I'm currently unemploye...

Unless you'd like to adopt a beautiful cream chow chow boy, (as it happens, I know where to get one of those  ), my vote for new best friend for Mrs. Tu's mom is Bama's little black girl. She has the smoochiest face, and of course, I am DYING to sniff her feetsies! But that's just me.......

I haven't seen him since I dropped him off with Pali, the founder of Rocket Dog Rescue, and I miss him like crazy but I hear he's doing ok. I've had some hits on him from petfinder.com and from the RDR website, where there's a new picture of him and he has hair! Take a look if you get a chance...he ...

Shame on that vet for not doing what he or she was supposed to, but what courage you have for loving Mrs. Tu enough to let her go. My thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time. Be easy on yourself the next few weeks. You've suffered a great blow and deserve to mourn and heal at yo...
