Re: Why my chowchow is small compared to other chow

Don't worry about it. Chow sizes vary. My Chow Chow was the largest in a litter of 4 girls. She is now 70lbs at almost 4 years old. Her dad is 60, her mom is 44, sisters range from 42 to 48 lbs. Our neighbor's Chow is 28-30 lbs and 14 inches at the shoulder and is the tiniest of the breed I have eve...

Re: Is my Kei smooth or rough coat chowchow? is he pure or with mix breed?

If any of her grandparents is a pomeranian then she is NOT a pure breed chow. She looks like a pure breed Chow Puppy though. You will see it as she gets older. For now, just love Kei and enjoy her antics growing up. Whatever she is, looks to me she will grow up to be gorgeous.

Re: Eczema

skin problems are common with Chows. After 3 years of struggling I finally found the solution to my Chestnut's persistent mange and hot spot problem. It turns out she is immunocompromised and has a yeast and fungus issue hence the demodex mange, bloody odor and hot spots. Shampoo with Chlorhexidine ...

Re: New chow puppy problem

Trust me, what you are going through is very normal. My Chestnut was just like that during her teething stage. She was a docile gentle puppy, then became a teething demon. You just have to be patient as this phase will pass and you will get your regal, intelligent dog back. I coped during this phase...

Re: Help with getting two chow chows!

Research Littermate syndrome. I was told by the breeder that I could get two chow pups if I wanted and they would be for free. I was really tempted but when I read littermate syndrome I changed my mind. The littermates with imprint on each other and not the master and one's progress will always be h...

Re: How much to feed Walter with Orijen Adult

Hi kevin! Walter is still growing . At that same age and weight, I fed Chestnut twice a day 1 1/4 cup each time so total of 2 1/2 cups a day. I noticed she lost weight on Orijen too as she became more active and was always hungry. So go feed him till he is full. His metabolism is still pretty fast e...

Hi Pinoy51. Dr. Sicam cured chestnut. It was her personal Brand of amitraz bath which she gets from the states. No more shots for her. Just a weekly bath with perla, sulfur soap. Her personal antibacterial shampoo and her ultra concentrated amitraz solution which she will allow you to buy o you can ...

Re: Why does my chow look different?

Your Chow looks pure to me. I also think she is a Rough coat as her fur looks long and lush. She is gorgeous and will probably weigh about 33- 44 lbs at 2 years old when she is full grown. Girls are smaller. Mine is the biggest in the litter of 4 girls and now weighs 66 lbs at 3 years old. her sibli...

My low protein recommendations are Acana limited ingredient lamb or duck or pork. Also go! Sensitivity and shine limited ingredient duck, venison and salmon. These are protein lower than 28% which is my absolute minimum.

Re: Help...Puppy low protein food

Smelly coat is most likely a demodex mange problem. If she is allergic to her dogfood she could be scratching a lot. My solution is opposite to low protein. Remember Chows are prone to obesity, diabetes and skin allergies. They are dogs so they need protein in their diet. Low protein food usually co...

Yup she looks about 3 months old. I hope you get her back as soon as possible as you must be so worried. The good news is she is getting some doggie socialization at the kennels. Just socialize her with as many people you can when she gets out. Ypur baby is adorable BTW.

Re: Chow puppy with pink nose?

She seems like a cream to me. When i had my chow certified there was one lady who was surprised her blonde chow which she was sure was cinnamon was proclaimed a dark hued cream. The reason were the pink nose and paw pads. It is impossible for a cream to have any black pigment as well. To confuse you...

Re: are chow allergic to fish??

My chow chow is allergic to fish but that doesnt mean all chows are. Have your baby tested for demodex mange. That is what mine had when she started shedding profusely and her skin turned black. It is an immune system problem that usually affects growing pups. We have been battling it for 2 years an...

My little girl did not do well on solid gold as she is allergic to a lot of stuff. The dog food i found that was perfect for her is Go! Potato free and grain free turkey recipe. Re: I want by chow chow. It's god idee?

There are too many changes coming up in your life. My suggestion is to get married and have your kids first and then get the chow when your babies have started school. Or at least your older child. Your life is about to change drastically and you won't have time to really socialize and devote a lot ...

Ther is nothing more adorable than a chow chow puppy. Genghis Khan was even cuter than Peluche at that age. Hi Kevin! Popular fish based kibble is Orijen six fish or Acana Pacifica. My Chestnut hates it just by smell alone and when she was forced to eat it it was eye goop all the way. Other people swear by raw feeding but i am so scared of salmonella due to the humid philippine weather. If your walter has...
