Re: Stubborn or Intelligence?
Disagree as much as you like! :| I would suggest that your chow chow is the exception rather than the rule. My chow chows are highly intelligent and very chow like and so are the other chows whose owners visit this site. So, I suggest there may be something wrong with your chow. Is she poorly? Has s...

Re: Not sure what to think...
Yes chow puppies are easy to train. Mine have never chewed anything they should not and they houssetrained themselves in two or three days but they are very self-willed and stubborn. Absolutely gorgeous girls as were Milly and Mabel before them but they need ground rules and a firm, but kind hand. T...

Re: Zoe will not eat her dog food...
Mmm! Another case of Zoe calling the tune! :) Cut out the chicken for a bit. Put the food down - if she does not eat it - tough - she will when she is hungry enough! You really cannot pander to a puppy - she is adorable, I know - and you love her so much - but you have got to take control and lay do...

Re: Not sure what to think...
With the greatest respect, I think that you need to teach your little Zoe one important lesson - You are the Mummy Person and she is the Chow Chow - therefore - you say and she does. I think 15 week old is a little young for a Chowling to decide where she is going to sleep! You need t...

Re: Insurance help?
I think my ideas makes sense. :) Fred and I talked it over as we had paid a lot of money on insurance for Milly and Mabel and had never used it. With the £100 excess the companies put on the times we had to take them to the vet, for example, Mabel went through a time when she had a whole series of U...

Maisie saw Maisie
When I was out with Maisie this morning we came across a very shiny black car parked on a road we walk down. Maisie spotted a very clear reflection of herself in the car and stopped to look. She moved closer then stepped back and had a good look. She stayed for several minutes looking until sh...

Re: Insurance help?
Pet insurance is a problem I think. We had Milly and Mabel, our two chow chows now in The Happy Hunting Ground, insured but never actually claimed for them. When we brought our Matilda home we did nothing about insurance immediately and when she was 5 months old, Maisie came to live with us - they a...

Re: chow first heat
She is probably a little uncomfortable and if she is not being allowed in the house that will upset her.
You might try putting pants on her to help stop blood dripping inthe house.
It all lasts for about 3 weeks but she will probably be quite good at cleaning herself up.

Re: Crossing fingers...
Can I join the cheer leading team - I will keep all my fingers and toes crossed and will ask Matilda and Maisie to cross their paws. :D I do hope it works out for you, I really do - but - if it does not just chin up and keep on fighting for what you want. It will happen in the end - it is just the w...

Re: Be careful in the snow!
We have snow here in Cheshire and it froze over quite quickly so we have not taken them out for a walk. We have, however let them go into the garden but we have supervised them as I don't want them to slip. They do love paddling round in the snow though and ploughing it up with their noses. We let t...

Re: How much sleeping....
Matilda and Maisie love to sleep but they also like to do the chores with us. They get up in the morning and are quite lively whilst they have their breakfast and then there are chores to be done - washing up, bed making, picking up their bundles outside, filling up the bird hoppers outside, h...
