I need to have Maggie spayed soon

The vet that I take maggie to insist on keeping the dogs overnight after they have been spayed. There is no one in the office from the time they close to opening up in the morning. Is this normal? I'm concerned about any emergency that occurs during the night. Do all vets do this? I like this guy but...

Re: Why are the drug companies screwing us?

These are not Australian drugs. These are the same drugs, same box, made by same people. Lilly is the company. Then if we all get smart and buy our American made drugs from foreign countries then I would imagine the Veternarians would raise a stink and the price should, would come down.$15 a tablet i...

I am sure you can do other searches and find addition price spreads
You were right, even found it cheaper from another Australian Company, Would love to e-mail this to my vet, almost half the price.

Re: Everyone should read before buying a pet...

Heartbreaking-Thank you for waking some of us up. Many years ago I applied for a job at a county pet shelter, when I found out that my main job was to put animals to sleep everyday I turned and said no thanks.

Re: Why are the drug companies screwing us?

we pay plenty for vet visits here in the states. An annual checkup cost well over $100 and thats if nothing is wrong. Do they have to kill us with the price of drugs also?

Why are the drug companies screwing us?

I have been using Comfortis for the past year. The vet charges $90 for 6 tablets, I can get it through overseas pet suppliers from anywhere from $60 to $70 and no shipping. This is the exact meds from Lilly. Why can Canadian and Australian co. get it cheaper for us? This is outrageous and I'm upset ...

Re: hello chowchow lovers!

Maggie thinks she is supposed to be lead dog on a sled team. I have won obedience ribbons with my past dogs but Maggie will not heel with me unless she has had enough of the walk and is exhausted. I have contacted trainers for advice and they want to use shock collars and I object to that kind of tr...

I lost my chinabear after 16 years, placed her in the ground with a statue of St Anthony and contacted all Chow breeders in the south. I wanted another black female just like Chinabear, Well I got one and when I pass China's grave I ask her for help with this new one.It is almost like China is still...

Re: There are still nice people in this world!

Why is she getting out of a kennel? It should be unescapeable, I had a run built for Maggie with 6 ft fencing not only for her to be safe but also so no one could get to her. I have had a past pet get hit by a car before and it will never happen again, it is heart breaking.

I was speaking of my own experience where a Female vet could not lift my Maggie to the table.
You cannot give a good exam while dog is on floor.

Re: How to find a qualified vet

I was not happy with the vet that was recommended to us by several neighbors. Been a dog owner my whole life and can sense a good doctor, vet, nurse. When they get down on floor to examine my dog because they cannot lift her it was time for me to find another. Had to go local Vet University to find m...

Re: How much exercise?

I'd give anything for 70 degree weather, It has been 3 weeks of 95 here in North Georgia but Maggie still insist on her afternoon walks. 2 or 3 times a week I'll take her for a swim in our State park, hang on to the halter and let her tread water just to tire her out for she has so much energy. Rest...

Re: New owner question, puppy or older?

I purchased a 7 month old female show chow from a breeder in Atlanta. She is now 3 yrs old and the most gorgeous dog I ever owned. They are stubborn, ignore you at times and lick you to death when they are in the mood. She is smart, understands most commands, enjoys being groomed and a very kind dog....

I lost my chinabear after 16 yrs also. I put her in the backyard with St. Francis watching over her. It will take a little while to get over her for I cried like a baby. Re: How to train a husband...???

Purchased a 2 car garage screen that attaches to the sides with a very strong velcro and a heavy pipe on bottom to keep it secured. This way I can open the garage door and keep the dog inside while she can view whats going on outside. Maggie came out to garage and laid down a couple of times and seem...

When you find an answer please let us all know. I have a large fenced in area that she spends half the day in and when I want her to come in I must loop a rope around her neck. She jerked so hard that I was left holding the rope while she ran through the woods with me on her heels. I'm just thankful...

Ok If your dog came at us like a rocket then I would kick the crap out of you too.CONTROL YOUR DOG and the one who suggested you hide in the bushes to see if the lady let her dog off leash has to have a loose screw also.
