Shelter screwed up....
I'm outraged at our neighboring county shelter!!! Missing dog was euthanized after he was missing for only 3 hours!!! Yes.....a man was out looking for his missing dog, when after 3 hours of searching, he called the shelter to see if anyone had brought in his dog. Yes, someone found him and brought ...

Re: nanook was attacked
I'm so sorry to hear Nanook was attacked. The term, "mad" doesn't come close to how you must feel? I would venture to say that these folks are not going to be responsible and pay the vet bill, or they would have stepped up when you presented the bill to them. I hope you discussed a deadlin...

Colonel get's the zoomies and so does my 9 lb Japanese Chin. Fortunately, I've been able to teach them to not run the zoomies with each other, lest my itty bitty baby get hurt accidentally by Colonel's big happy butt! I open the door and send them outside to run. It's so funny because they will look...

Re: 90 Dogs Seized From Lancaster County Home
This is so very sad... Sounds to me, Terri has a very tender heart and noble intentions to saving chows from euthanasia. Getting out of hand and being overwhelmed can happen in a most innocent way. After all, if any of us had to make the decision as to which chow should go to the gas chamber and whi...

You done good kid! Brilliant, just brilliant!!!! I like the idea of a card explaining, "All About Chows". You are on to something!!!!! I think it's a smart preemptive campaign to keep Chows off the list of Bully Breeds that continues to sweep our nation. I think I will do it to! If we went...

I don't recommend holding her down. I think you would do better actually training your pets, rather than simply responding negatively when something goes wrong? I think reading the Bama Rama Training Method may help you understand what I'm talking about. http://forum.chowchow.org/viewtopic.php?f=18&...

Clockman, I know you mean well, but that advise will get someone bitten. The real issue is trust. You will never get a chow to trust you if you force things upon him/her. Kiwani is right, he was allowed to become the boss and now must learn he is not, through training, not force. I agree with Kiwani...

Auddymay, You may be right, a paint gun is the most humane! We have so many strays, and no animal control. Well...our animal control is Manny the garbage man's second job, and he can only do animal control on Tuesdays and it has to be by appointment! All I can do is try to catch them, so far I've on...

I've already been through the neighborhood and asked most of the neighbors. However, there are a few new folks and I haven't ask them yet. The lady who was bitten is new and she, too is trying to find out where they live. David, for all the reasons you stated, I hesitate to call animal control. I've...

OMG!!! I am so ill!! I have family here from out of state. They are all gathered for my nephew's graduation from Auburn University. Someone left the gate to the back yard open! People too busy to notice that the gate didn't latch. Anyway, I'm doing my motherly spot check to see what my furkids are d...

Judy, I couldn't agree with you more. Quality time is so important to give to our children, both smooth and furry! With animals, it's about a relationship, not ownership. People who view themselves strictly as, "owners" are missing out on a great deal in the way of a close relationship wit...

I know it's scary when the little buggers get loose, but chances are, they will come home and want inside very soon!
I'm glad you didn't have to go and chase them down!

My Princess Buttercup is very afraid, she hides and shakes. So....I'm a party pooper, if anyone has fireworks in our neighborhood,
I politely ask them to put them away, as it is against city ordinance to have them.

Yeah, I know we look like total dorks with our helmets on, but it may save our brains one day! You should have seen the time when i tried to stuff both Princess Buttercup and Molly into one helmet!!! All is clear!! Colonel and the rest of the furkids are out of the closet.
The tornado was reported to have lifted cows and deer into the air! No joke!
As of this hour, no deaths reported, but thousands of trees down.
I love stormy weather, but I can do without tornadoes!

Really, I mean he is literally in the closet! See, we have tornadoes swirling about outside, so I have the furkids with me down in the basement, inside a closet! This is a funny site...I'm wearing a motorcycle helmet and I've got a helmet on Colonel! LOL He does't like it and is shaking it off! LOL ...

I think a lot of folks here have bought into the multi-million dollar campaign, paid for by the Insurance interests... that a national health care system would be bad. Most people have no clue about our health care system unless they have a major illness and no insurance. I had rather the government...

LOL..I have to proudly say, I don't get the Tammy reference!!! I'm sure it's not a issue of my age, but more of the fact that we didn't have TV or movies up in them thar hills! Yeah, I'm pretty concerned about the whole insurance thing too. Sadly, insurance dictates our health. I see it all the time...
