Re: war with the neighbor's kids
If you speak to the parents & it dosent do any good. Then buy some big thin pieces of some thing like chip board & nail it onto your side of the fence. That way the kids wont be able to see where your chows are in the garden.Or set up a video camara to record things being thrown over the fence...

Re: NEW PUPPY!
Feeding 2 x day is not enough she should be fed at least 4 x day.Better still would be 5 x day for the next 2 weeks if you could set your alarm clock to feed her in the middle of the night & then put her out to pee that would better for her.It will be hard on you for 2 weeks with disturbed sleep...

Training at 5 months old he will be teething therefore you should give him bones to chew to relieve the pain he will getting from his teeth. This will stop a lot of the nipping. Exercise him at least twice for 30 minutes per day take him out let him meet & play with other dogs. Play time this sho...

Two puppys together will keep each other company.Whether you have one or two it would be best if you got a walker or took her to daycare 11 hours is too long for her to be left on her own.She will be frustrated as your finding out.At 10 weeks old she is still a baby and wont take much notice of your...

Tonights bonfire night i have just seen your post i close all the curtains and then put a music channel on the tv or the radio on full blast.I find this calms them down quite a lot.Even though i live in a detached house i always go round to my neighbours and say the music might be loud for a couple ...

Re: Nothing vet can do, can anyone suggest anything
You could try doggy swimming.I dont know which country your in but in the uk we have cannine hydro therapy places. He would be put into a harness and lowered partially into the pool under supervision with floats around him then he can kick his legs freely and it could help with his stiffened joints.T...

You said shes skittish from the beginning therefore you have a nervous dog.Having her surrounded by people was probably putting to much pressure on her at this time. You will find she nipped at the people to stop them invading her space.I would suggest two things put her in a room away from everyone ...

On the occasions that hes bitten has it always been when you have walked him.If so then he is over protective of you and must have felt you were at threat from your neigbour and he had to protect you.I would suggest you contact a good professional trainer who could do a home visit and walk out with ...

Re: Choke Chain pulling Hair out
never use any form of choke chain on a chow.he should be walked 1 hour in a morning and 1 hour in the evening.before taking him for a walk take him into the back yard and either using toys or running around yourself play with him for 10 minutes this will bring down his energy levels before you go on...
