Re: Meat (Chicken/Beef) for Chow
What do you do with raw chicken? How do you cook it? Is giving a variety of fresh meat to dogs not bad at all?

Re: Bad behavior of Walter
I tried using a shorter leash to teach Walter how to not "pull on the leash". He seems to still do it regardless and since he wears a collar he loses his breath doing so and yet he still doesn't stop from doing it. Is this normal or should I be worried? I'm kinda worried because you really...

Re: Meat (Chicken/Beef) for Chow
Thanks. What kind of "fish-based dog food" are these? And if I do this, my Chow will get used to different tastes and what I read about this is that it leads a dog to being very finnicky. Any thoughts on this?

Meat (Chicken/Beef) for Chow
Is it good to feed our Chows Beef and Chicken meat or would that have a negative effect to their appetite? This topic is discussed widely all over the Internet but has a lot of mixed answers. I just want to get the opinions of people in this forum.
Thanks.
Thanks.

Re: Bad behavior of Walter
Got it. My main concern now is Walter's food intake. He goes for a day to a day and a half without eating and then eats his kibble with a mix of homemade liver gravy and then starts the cycle all over again. This means that he's really not eating enough! He was given this morning his food and he sta...

Re: Bad behavior of Walter
The fake lawns I can get locally are very cheap (http://i00.i.aliimg.com/wsphoto/v0/1602501828_1/3-Layers-Pet-Dog-font-b-Puppy-b-font-font-b-Potty-b-font-Pad-Trainer.jpg). When looking at it personally, it seems very low quality and would think that Watler will just chew up on that and know that it ...

Re: Shampooing Chow
Before I discovered you could soap up first I used to shampoo twice. Reason was she was so dirty and first shampoo barely lathered and came up with gray or brown suds from the dirt. Now that I use soap beforehand I just shampoo once after for the scent and extra cleansing. The soap I use is dirt ch...

Re: Shampooing Chow
You can use just the one shampoo. If you bathe him on a regular basis (be careful not to bath too often), you can make a judgment on whether you need a conditioning additive. When bathing them, make sure they are completely wet. Add the shampoo and work it into the fur making sure you get down to t...

Re: Bad behavior of Walter
1. You can use the leash you have. Just put more of it behind your hand and let it drag. If he is not in control, let him have about a foot, maybe two so you are right on top of the collar. When you stop, stop until he is back in control and not trying to lunge ahead. This could be 10 seconds or a ...

Re: Shampooing Chow
Thanks. Are dog soaps significantly cheaper than shampoos? So I can go away with just dog soap plus the shampoo afterwards?
If the first and second bottle that you use have both the same content, why do you use the second bottle for insurance?

Shampooing Chow
Currently, I use Bearing Shampoo (orange for "all breeds" type) and Bearing Conditioning Shampoo (light blue, cool sport type) to bathe Walter. Since they have rough coats, they need a lot of amount of both of these to cover the whole coat in shampoo and it's being too expensive for me. Wi...

Re: Bad behavior of Walter
Hi, 1. Harness/Collar: The harness basically tells the Chow he can drag or pull you. Use the collar. Is it a flat or rolled collar? The rolled is better for a rough coat. When on your walk, if Walter starts to pull, stop the walk. My Nahkohe was always trying to pull/run. I would stop the walk and ...

Bad behavior of Walter
Walter is 6 months and has a couple of bad behaviors that I want to badly correct. I live ALONE in a condo and this is my first dog. I'm assuming it would be harder to raise him in such environment but it is not impossible. Please see the details below: 1.) When I walk him outside, he tends to pull ...

Re: Dog bone for Walter
I give the Kongs to my dogs, but its more of treat for them. 1/2 hour at best. Then again, I don't use the puzzle portion. Try to keep the dogs interest by having him work to get to it. Bully Sticks are OK too, but it depends on the dog. If they cheat and eat completely, not so bad, if not you are ...

Re: Dog bone for Walter
Oh ok. Looking at Kongs, they seem to be challenging for our chows, which is good to ease their boredom when alone
What do you mean by "numbs"? Are you referring to the nylabones?
I'll check the bully sticks too.

I haven't tried giving him the bones in the pics that I've posted. I'm just planning to buy him those :) Which size are you pertaining to? There are several sizes in the link that I've sent you. The bones that I'm giving him right now are about 3 inches in size and are edible. Oh ok, that's great th...

Re: Dog bone for Walter
Great! I tried giving them those also and he can finish one in about half a day! They're kinda pricy if I decide to give 2 to 3 times a day like you do though :( I found Nylabones in my country here: http://www.olx.ph/index.php/view+classifieds/id/72228062/Nylabone+Durable+Flavored+Dog+Chews?referra...

How about those Nylabones that I'm reading about? Are they supposed to be good ones?

Dog bone for Walter
Walter is close to being 4 months old and is fond of chewing on anything he can, including our limbs! When he's given an edible bone that's around 3 to 4 inches, he can finish it within hours! What dog bone should I give him to chew on? Of course, we would not want any hazardous plastics from dog bo...
