Re: ANYBODY EVER DARED TO CLEAN THEIR CHOWS TEETH (FANGS)?

I brushed Tippsy's teeth her whole life. And she didn't protest it. I taught her from the time she was a puppy to be accepting of me doing so many different things to her (brushing teeth, brushing her fur, bathing her, clipping her nails, etc.), I could even open her mouth and take things out ...

Re: Chows with NO leash...Dont try this at Home

I did the same training with my girl Tippsy when she was young but once she got it in her head that she wanted to explore, she was gone and NOT listening to anyone... My mix boy Jasper can be out without a leash and mind completely. Doesn't matter what's going on. He won't even leave the property bo...

Re: Is she the smallest chow ever??

I've heard of some tiny chows, but I do believe that's the tiniest I've ever hear. As long as the vet says she's a perfect weight for her frame, that's what matters. I can't get my mix girl to touch TOTW while my mix boy loves it (so does my picky little pomeranian). Which formula are you givi...

Thanks! He actually REALLY played with me for the first time in a long time on Monday. He tired out kinda quick, but it made me so happy to see him that happy and spunky again. Lol :)

Re: Family with young kids...is a chow right for us?

I'm sorry about Tippsy. That's so sweet. She looks like Agnes, the chow we adopted when I was a kid. We also lost her early to an autoimmune disease. Are chows likely to have these diseases? It seems I've seen this a lot online in doing my research. Thanks. I miss my girl more than I could even try...

Thanks Victory! I'll definitely be talking to the vet about it when we finally get him back in (hard to get an appointment right now).

Re: Family with young kids...is a chow right for us?

I was 2 when my parents brought my first chow into our family. He was fantastic with my younger brother and I. Unfortunately he passed away when he was 2 y/o due to a heatstroke but my parents never had a problem with him and us and our friends. We got my second chow when I was 9. She was fantastic ...

Thanks! I'm relieved beyond belief that he's getting better too. It killed me to see him so miserable, but he's got that pep in his step back and I am thrilled! Lol Now we're working on getting his weigh back up.

Re: 2 years and 8 months later....

That's beautiful! I would've loved to get mine before Tippsy passed away, but I wasn't ever able to afford it. Lol I've looked at finally getting this tatt as another step in my healing. I'll NEVER be "over" losing Tippsy, but the tears come so far and few between now; I can talk about her...

Could it be?

Anyone know if the route of Jasper's problems could be an allergy to the rabies vaccine? That's the only vaccine he receives (seeing as it's required by law) and it seems that his condition has always gone from being perfectly fine before he receives the vaccine to crappy a few weeks after... Seems ...

Re: When is enough enough?

Thank y'all. We upped his Benadryl intake for right now. I have to wait to get paid to be able to take him to the vet again. We're tight on money at the moment.... And Victory, thank you. You're right. He is young and he is trying. I just hope this time the vet can offer something more than we've co...

Re: When is enough enough?

We're out in the middle of nowhere, in the middle of the woods. No telling what kind of plants are here. But if that were the problem, wouldn't all 6 dogs have problems and not just Jasper? The other 5 dogs are perfectly healthy, have none of the stuff happening to Jazz.

Re: When is enough enough?

We've done the skin biopsy with 3 different vets. Every one of them came back saying allergies. He has food allergies and environmental allergies. The only time of the year that he doesn't seem to have issues is in the summer. The rest of the year, it's awful. Last year it got so bad we thought he h...

When is enough enough?

This has bothered me for a little while... So, anyone who knows me and Jazz, knows we've found Jazz's severe allergies for the majority of his life. We get meds from the vet, change his food, & get medicated shampoo time and time again. And for a little while, he gets better. His skin and ears c...

Re: New chow pup doesn't fully step dad.

All I can suggest is your stepdad to spend some time bonding with the pup. He can give her treats and make himself a good person to her. My chow girl that I had (she passed away almost 3 years ago) never trusted my grandpa. She was very untrusting of men in general. My grandpa tried everything to ea...

Re: Pack problem... Non chow

No, it's just stressful when Nikki tries to make a snack out of my little pommie. I usually spend my days with my dogs in my room, in the basement, or outside. While someone else has Nikki in the main part of the house. Everything would be more simple if myself and my animals were at my own place....
