Joey is now now four months old and 20pounds.
He is a very good boy, following his mentor Simba, who is right next to him, as usual.
You can see a bit of his fur.
The girls are playing with him too, and Joey learned already how to share his toys.
The more the Chows the merrier :D

Re: Ideal dog poop appearance?

I'm going for usually for high protein content and that get's me to once a day moist and shaped as you describe the Orjen. The volume looks just right to me. I'm using a locally made dry food from Cebu mixed with Pedigree. I haven't found the two foods you're using. I'm interested in using Orijen fo...

Re: My Chow killed a toy pomeranian please need advice

I'm not in favor of putting the burden on Lilly. If there is someone who knows Chows very well and can work with you and your family how to socialize Lilly better thats okay. But most dog trainer don't know Chows very well. That might make things worse specially if they hear that Lilly killed anothe...

Re: My Chow killed a toy pomeranian please need advice

It sounds like you're surrounded by people who are not very familiar with Chows and you and your Mom need to be much more alert if you have strangers around your Chow. I wouldn't even think about letting someone I don't know bring a small dog I don't know and let them unsupervised in the private ter...

Re: Sudden Death

First of all I'm very sorry to hear this, no-one should experience the sudden death of a beloved Chow. It will take a vet to help you to understand what happened. My layman opinion I would think about food or water poisoning. I don't mean that someone poisoned your baby, but she might have picked so...

Re: Sally's progress

Hi Constantina, thanks for sharing your experience, sorry to hear that Chestnuit isn't doing fine. I will share as soon as I see a better to treat the mange. I have done the Amitraz for soooo long, but it didn't get her cured either. Everytime we reduced the frequence of the bath the red skin return...

Re: my chow bit me

I'm glad you're able to understand the situation and congrats to your Hubby. I tell you a funny story about Simba so you can see how to de-escalate potential issues. Every Sunday a masseuse comes to our house and in the beginning Simba was on "red alert" when he saw her touching my wife. I...

Re: Favorite pictures of my Chows

Hi Constantina, Still a struggle with Sally's health. The mange is only under control due to antibiotics, luckily the blood test is okay until now. Any attempt to reduce the dose and have her immune system take over is failing, the mange flares up all over her body within a week. So far none of the ...

Re: my chow bit me

I'm living in the Philippines, where proper understanding of dogs and dog psychology is rare. So I'm very strict with not letting any small kid go close to Simba, he would react exactly the same and also might even bite me by accident. Actually he wouldn't even have any screaming kid come close to h...

Re: Should i get one puppy or not?

Hi,
Yes Chows are very furry Companions.
Nala is shedding every six month her complete under coat, which means litterally hands full of furr balls are coming off.
The others are not so heavy shedders but still dog hairs are everywhere, every day and need to be cleaned up.

Re: My CHOW has pneumonia that does not respond to antibioti

Hi, this is very specific, eventually serious health problem which is best discussed with veterinarian at your location. I would get a second opinion from there if you feel uncomfortable with your current doctor. We're here Chow enthusiasts, but if I'm completely mistaken there is no veterinarian pr...

I could fill an entire forum right now with stories and pictures. It is beyond my expectations how the three adults embraced Joey. He is a lucky fellow to have three adults dogs, which are willing to play with him and take care off him at the same time. I will follow your advise and get a new family...

Re: Should i get one puppy or not?

Rory's dad, I wonder why you're fixated on one aspect of his method he has clearly only done with some red line cases (saving theme from being killed) and clearly stated not do this yourself and not to confuse this with standard training and behavior shaping. Unfortunately this became sensationalize...

Re: Luckys' leg hotspot

Sorry didn't see your post earlier. I live in San Pedro, Laguna. Summer and hot spots are in no way correlated. if they spread it is most likely dietary. There is a lot of info in the health forum Simba had hot spots at that age due to wrong diet. Avoid wheat first of all, which is unfortunately in ...

Hi Stelios, I live in the tropics (Philippines) and have four Chow's by now. You can see them and their stories if you follow my posts under Pinoy51. So climate okay, if shady rest place, lots of water and eventually cooling fan if no natural breeze can be provided. Please do not shave the fur of th...

I will post my favorite picture of Simba later. He turned out the perfect big brother and Nala changed her mind n...

Re: Doesn't,t want brushed

Hi there, now i'm also convinced you want what's right for your Chow. Can't believe what the poor guy had to go through. Chows are one of the most intelligent breeds in the dog world. They're capable of making their own judgement of situations, people and other animals. This is often mistaken for di...

Re: Doesn't,t want brushed

I think I didn't got you wrong. You can't take care of a a Chow if you're not ready to accept the basics of this dog. They're big and they're protective which can turn into agression if not proper socialized. You need to address this first you need to accept the dog as it is and deal with him in a p...
