Rory's Dad - I appreciate your strong stance on your point of view. Being hard-headed is exactly what a chow owner should be! Lol. (cos i am too, dont worry!) Moving on, just thought you should know, that the dog school my pup has attended since we got her (so for 5 months now) is a dog school with ...

wowza! gosh, im so sorry for you :( You must be seriously caught between a rock and a hard place... I think in order to treat the problem you have to start at baby steps again. If your dog is biting out of fear, it must mean at some point, some where... something happened to cause your dog to fear &...

All i can say is that i know exactly how you feel! Its funny how when they get away from you, they really bolt. Its happened to me twice when the leash slipped off my puppies head. I can suggest pouncing if its in your nature. I used to be an excellent soccer goalie , so as you can imagine... P ounc...

Re: advice needed
Hey hey!!!! Happy to report that slush has managed to come a bit right. I've basically gone back to the start with the socializing, and that's helped heaps. She's tolerating other dogs really nicely now. She also graduated from puppy school and is now onto the intermediate class! Stoked!!!! But, as ...

look, i dont want to throw a spanner in the works, BUT... my one friend had a puppy who just wasnt developing. Her appitite went down, but she continued to play and was a ball of fun! At 8 months, she had to be put down. Most depressing thing ever! My friend (shes pretty stupid for a smart chick) bo...

thanks Rory :) Yea, my chowlie is 7 months now. I pretty much did exactly what you put in your post yesterday. I went to the dog park with my other friend and her dog... everything was ok. Slush was REALLY reserved at first, but after a while, she really started getting into it. Then, lo-and-behold,...

my chowlie isnt as fuzzy as most classic chows. Shes what Wikipedia calls a "modern" chow. She doesnt have as much fur as a classic chow does, but the weather still gets to her.
Please dont forget to put up pictures of your new baby when you get her!!!! I love chow puppies SO much <3

Well, I cant leave my chowlie out during the day in Summer here in South Africa... we've hit temps of 100 degrees F (38oC) in the past week. I've been loving it, but my plush kitty and pup have not! I hose them down in the morning to ensure they stay cool throughout the day :> I cant say that they l...

thanks Cam - i cant say i share your view of keeping my dog at home or in the yard. I think thats a pretty boring life. I like to take my chowlie out :) As far as Im concerned, vicious dogs can stay at home, the nice ones should come out to play. I'm lucky that most of my neighbourhood is like that....

Hi guys, I've always been chuffed that my dog never had any typical "chow" characteristics. She was never aggressive and was always awesome with all people. She was always well socialized. Now i have a problem. After my pup got spade, and her mange kicked in full force, i kept her at home ...

Re: We want an other chow... but is it the right time?
i have a better piece of advice. Instead of having a baby, why dont you and your gf get married first?! Much, much better. Boost can be your ring bearer :) Sorry - i'm a little traumatised by people having kids, and then kids growing up in broken homes. C'mon man. Do the right thing! Your kid will l...

Re: Getting chows in/out of the car?
my chowlie doesnt like car rides. She gets car sick so she normally doesnt like to get in - even if the destination is somewhere really fun for her :> I have to pick her up all the time. Make sure you use the correct doggie method. Scoop your pup up using your arms as a cradle. Your arms must go ove...

hey everyone. Just thought id post this here because my heart is pretty broken up over all the pain my puppy has been going through. We started the dips for the mange this past Sat. What a drama. Puppy was dipped and proceeded to sleep for the rest of the day, only waking up to vomit. She couldnt ev...

YAAAAAAAAY!!! so so cute <3 Congrats on your new buddy. I know you're going to have such fun times ahead! If its any consolation, my Slush was also a real tyrant when she was 12 weeks old (thats when we got her)! It gets better when they're a little older...but brace yourself because it gets worse d...

aaah! Its nice to know someone else struggled with mange! Did you manage to get rid of easily enough? Was the dip effective? I'm going to take your advice and not clip her for now and just try to soak the dip through. Shes not a very long haired chow, so hopefully it wont be that much of a mission. ...
