Re: Labor Day Baby!
My only advice would be to avoid any misunderstanding
between your Chow and the new parents. Keep the two
Females separate until Puppy is able to be on its own.
Congratulations to the new Parents, both Animal and Human.

Re: Is this age related?
My Chows became withdrawn in their golden years.
They acknowledged me when food or the leash appeared.
Most of the time they slept or gazed out the window.
Maybe it is Chow dementia or they are just too tired after
all those years of play.

Re: your chow's best toy??
My first and third Chow Girls played with toys, especially number three Mrs. Kamie. My two Male Chows number two, Mr. Boo and number five Mr. Leo were against any such activity, too juvenile. Number four Miss Zoey would grab Mrs. Kamie's toy and stand over it growling to stop the play. I have not ye...

We learn from our experiences, both good and bad.
I hope your Baby does not have to go through
A teenage pregnancy, yelping a litter of Chowbadors.
Do a lot of research so you can be a responsible Breeder.
Paws crossed, we hope "it" did not happen.

Re: HELP PLEASE!!!
Muzzles are not intended for long term use. You will probably find that one of them or both will be able to remove the muzzle with there paws. Separation is best using barriers if they are not Crate trained. You will just have to find Chow proof barriers, do some Goggling or Binging there are a lot ...

Re: Need some advice...again.
I think you have been fortunate that Gabe had gotten along with Wilson at all, since small dogs can be considered prey by some Chows. Rory's Dad has good advice; maybe you should not crate just Wilson. My eleven year old Female, Zoey has been asking for more attention from me, like holding her dish ...
Dew Claws
Abby my middle aged adopted Female Chow Chow had to have her ingrown dew claws clipped. My Veterinarian is a little fearful of her even though she was muzzled. After two attempts they were able to hold her and get the job done. They told me that this type of Claw growth may need clipping every four ...

Re: Chow Abuse
Good point Me and Tess, animal abuse could be the beginning of other future types of bad behavior. I would nix Animal Control it may be the last place the dog ever knows. Rescues are often overcrowded even for cases of all but the most serious cases of neglect. Do not blame yourself, your intentions...

Good to hear all the news about you and your fur friends. Maybe Nikki will help Dixie be accepted by your Dad.
I just do not know how you could hide Dixie all this time from your Dad; he must be busy all the time.
Good luck with the Job hunt.

With three hundred and sixty-five pages to fill you would have too be creative......they must have stayed up all night, maybe forty long nights to come up with that one. Cute anyway.

Blue eyes for a Blue coat Chow, how is that! His coat may turn a brownish/red (Rusty) with sun exposure; one of my Blue Chows did and the other did not..... .......if he does Rust do not treat it with shampoos they will not help, it is normal and natural.

Re: New to here, Meet Salem
Hello too you two. Sorry you are having bad experiences in your area with your Pal. I have found that owners of other breeds classified as aggressive often criticize owners of breeds in the same temperament class. I think it is a personality flaw of those owners, maybe they are tired of their animal...

Re: Lilly's prey drive
My first Female had the strongest Prey drive. I think she developed it from spending much of her time in her fenced in yard as entertainment for herself. She would stalk like a Cat moving forward one paw at a time and when close enough burst forward in a blur and dispatch the unsuspecting critter; t...

Re: Chow Coat
Like the name and his appearance, healthy and not afraid of water. His coat sounds normal for his age. My Chows shedding when in their adult stage depended on how much time they spent outside in the warm weather; more time out of the A.C. more shedding. I do not know the Furminator but prefer hand o...

Abby has been with me for 8 months now and has adapted well to life with my one remaining pack of three member Miss Zoey. She is learning to accept grooming, something she may not of had a lot of in her past. She had to have quite a few teeth removed during her first month here, so her food gets soa...

Wow! You have your hands full . Was it the Siberian that went too the Vet? Unfortunately for us Chow owners, many of us find ourselves defending our misunderstood breed . Send some pictures of your Pack.

They are two confident looking young Ladies. Hope there is no serious medical reason for Nala being shaved.
Pei must still be young since she has many wrinkles; that is what I read about Shar Pei's. Keep the skin and those ears clean for them both.

Re: Our Chow Chow bit my dad, what do i do? Help please!
First stop thinking it is too late and start taking the advice already given. You are developing a Temple Guard Dog and as you have seen he is confident in his limited surroundings and was wimpish when outnumbered. This could later turn him into a dangerous Dog that might strike out in fear at the n...

Re: Paw chewing. Help.
I would suspect allergies or lawn chemicals (fertilizers or weed killers). This time of year there are molds on the lawns; my Chows have been licking and nibbling their paws. My lawn has no treatments applied but in the past where I use to live treatments were used. Lawn chemicals can cause inter di...

Re: To neuter or not to neuter
My second Male was neutered at age four and I saw no change in his behavior or personality. Rescued dogs are "fixed" at all ages to eliminate more homeless pets; as we all know by now.
