Re: Raw Food Diet?
Yes but you cannot just feed tripe as a complete diet. That's what I'm trying to get atl. It is in no way enough nutrition to feed your dog every day with. It's a side plate... a supplement.. .that's all it is, and if the product says that you can feed it as a regular food, t hen it's nothing more ...

Re: Need help. Are these foods healthy?
as you are feeding a commercial diet of dog foods you need to go by your dogs weight and follow the guide on the packaging, taking into consideration the dogs *Censored Word*, age and activity level. I am not familiar with all these foods, I've only heard of the pedigree brand and i would never feed...

I don't see how “green tripe" from a freshly slaughtered animal is not a raw food,?Merlin wrote:But green tripe is not a raw diet. In many cases it's canned, not even raw.

Re: I need to have Maggie spayed soon
I see this is an old post, it would be interesting to know what the OP decided, OK I'm nosey, I know. Here in England it seems to be the norm to allow the dog to come home after they have assessed the recovery and all is well, My first dog came home same day after neutering and so did my chow after...

Rio, . We elected not to have a biopsy done, as there is no chance of subjecting her to chemo or radiation therapy. So pleased your Gracie is recovering well and I'm sure she's back to her old self by now. What a gorgeous name to, I love it, perfect for a chow chow. I wanted to add that I totally a...

Re: Brushing Her Teeth?
You should brush daily, I brushed my dogs teeth daily and gave him chew toys, when he passed away at a good age for an extra large breed (he was huge) he had gorgeous white teeth, he was a black dog and people inc. vets always commented how lovely and clean his teeth looked. I got my chow 7 weeks ag...

Re: Vitamin E for CHow Chow
Rats were fed a standard chow, Vit E-supplemented diet, or Vit E-deficient diet and subjected to surgically induced IOP elevation (or sham surgery) for five weeks. The retinal ganglion cells (RGCs) were subjected to retrograde fluorescent tracer labeling... Thats a vitamin for a chow.... I agree wi...

I just wanted top say Kimigirl that I feel reaaly bad for you and your chow, what an awful condition to have. The Omega oils which your vet has given you are the best thing for the chows skin and coat. My chow had her tummy shaved when she was spayed 8 weeks ago and her fur is growing really well, s...

This opening post mademe cry, I'm so very very sorry for your terrible loss of your beloved Simba, and what a shock for this to happen in a vets surgery, I know how i/we felt when we lost our boy a few months back but at least he died through natural causes and at home in our arms in seemingly no pa...

just to add my two penneths worth.....when requiring a dog to loose weight or gain weight I have always been told to only change amount of food by 10% either way. to access if a dog is under/over weight I have always judged by the way the dog looks to the eye and feeling around their ribs. hind quar...

Linoleic and linolenic are all essentials even to humans. It can be sourced out from natural food or supplements. Not everyone can make fresh yoghourt. Yakult's advantage is in the Lactobacillus shirota strain that it contains. The sugars there are part of culture and doesnt harm in small amounts. ...

Re: Raw Food Diet?
Yes, I think a raw diet is the way to go, definitely. Any dogs stomach is capable of consuming raw food due to the high acid and bile contained in the dogs stomach, You need to have good hygiene principles when feeding a raw diet, if you do this then all should be well. Even in the wild a dog may no...

This site provides information as to what is in a dog food it has no association with any pet food manufacturers.
It basically explains what the food label means and is very helpful, IMO.

Re: Lion Cut
Here is some info gleaned from the web... It would be impossible to count how many times each summer a professional groomer is asked to shave a client's dog in an attempt to make it cooler. It is a common misconception that all dogs would automatically be cooler if they had less hair. What type of h...
Re: Lion Cut
OMG what a shame, the lion cut is pretty hideous isn't it and should never be done to a chow. You need to be eally careful now as your poor chow has no protection from the sun nor against dirt and insect bites etc. As for how long it takes to grow back i have no idea, I'm sure some one here will let...
