Re: blue vs. other colors
I've never had a blue, so can't speak to their personalities with any degree of expertise. I have had 3 black girls and Teddy, a shaded red boy. All four have had very different personalities. Chana was very much mine and had little use for other humans. Tasha was a little friendlier and more social...

Re: Food
Teddy eats Solid Gold Wolfking kibble with a little shredded cheese and lukewarm water. Cinder eats Avoderm Lamb and Rice canned. (She is no longer able to digest or chew kibble). Both get Salmon oil and Glucosamine supplements. For treats they either get homemade biscuits, Buddy Biscuits (only the ...

Re: Click for "La France"
I clicked but I admit I don't speak (or read French). I think I understood this much: "click this button" and "Thank you". I am assuming I am doing this to provide food for animals in shelters from the English in Elodie's signature. Can some help this poor ignorant American who s...

I've also been there and done that. Here's my advice. Keep them separated for the time being, that should avoid injuries. They do pick up on your stress, so do whatever calms you down: 10 long slow deep breaths, a soothing bath, yoga, soft music, exercise, chocolate..... Remember if you are not heal...

Tracey,
I am so sorry for your loss. You did a wonderful thing becoming Missy's forever family and showing her there is love in this world. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. God bless you all.

Re: Need some advice on Chewie and my daughter.
I would agree that Chewie may be in pain and that needs to be addressed. Supplements are important with his leg problems, too. Please have him checked out and if he needs pain mgmt, provide it. My Chana had arthritis her last few years and 1 buffered aspirin a day and her supplements was all it took...

Oh, Mally, can I come and visit? I need to hug both those chowkids of yours. Lychee is such a beautiful big sister and table. And Apollo is just as cute as can be. There is nothing more adorable that a chow puppy. Give them both a hug from me, please. Now do you have to get new license plates or wil...

Re: Why did you get a chow?
My first dog was my parents before I was born (a supposedly purebred cocker that had long legs and an undocked tail). He guarded my crib and was mine until he died at 17 (I was 14). My parents then got a Keeshond, and another and another. They were pretty but very hard to house-train and that put me...

Re: Hello! I am Schmooshie!
Schmooshie is definitely a cutie! Glad to hear she is getting better. You can try hiding pills in hotdogs, liverwurst, or canned dog food. As for milk products, I give cheese to my two and both think it is wonderful. I just give about 3/4" cube as an occassional treat or sprinkle a little grate...

Re: Friendly or not?
Or her hearing? My Cinder is losing her hearing and has now started to growl when anyone gets too close without her being aware. I think it's more of an expression of surprise than anything else in her case as she is happy to be petted or scratched immediately. Chows do vocalize differently than oth...

Re: 'Efe' our baby girl (A few pictures)
Welcome to you and your pack. What a beautiful chow girl you have! I loved the video. My chows are rescues too. Cinder (my black girl) does a few tricks and loved going to school. I understand the longing for a chowling (chow puppy) as it has been about 20 years since there was a puppy in my home. I...

Chows talk by snorting, haw-hawing, ar-raring, etc. Barks are usually reserved for extreme situations such as someone at the door or desire for a playmate.

Re: Aggression Issues
Poor baby, abandoned so very young. She missed the opportunity to learn bite inhibition from her Mom and littermates. You are correct in thinking the play fighting and wrestling set her on the wrong course, but it is not too late to change that. Unfortunately, you will need to start back with the ba...

Coco looks so happy! Those squirrels are really hard to catch. Cinder has only caught one in all the years she has been trying and it was handicapped because it didn't make the jump from the tree to the garage.

Welcome to you and Missy. She is quite beautiful. Bless you for rescuing her. As for the eyes, please take her to a vet. If it is entropion she will need surgery to preserve her eyesight. But it could just be allergies and wiping off the goop daily could be all that is required. For grooming, chows ...

Oh, such a cutie. I'm with Judy: want to just grab him and run. I, too, would at least call the vet. Not a bad idea to take him in for a checkup/get acquainted visit as he is new to you anyway. Oh, and please share more pics. We never get tired of chowling pics here!
